Midnite Movies Double Feature - Tales From The Crypt (1972)/Vault Of Horror Movie Review Average Rating: (3.7 out of 5 stars) amicus production a must have for fan of retro horror Submitted by s_labelle2002 (montréal) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Tales is great but Vault is a letdown What a disappointment. The dvd of " Tales From the Crypt" is complete, but " Vault of Horror" is the same drab cut copy. Maybe Anchor Bay or Euroshock will release a complete copy one day. The irony is that one of the cut sequences appears in the black and white trailer that accompanies this disc. For that I am grateful. However "Tales From the Crypt" has never looked and sounded better. Seeing it in widescreen once again is a real treat, because it hasn't been seen this way since its original release. The Allstar cast lends class and dignity to this horror anthology. Peter Cushing is touching in his tale of "Poetic Justice". It is definitely one of his best performances. The rest of the cast is nothing short of professional. All of them leave their artistic mark on this film. "Vault of Horror" has always been the lesser of the 2 movies ( the cheaper budget didn't help) but still is enjoyable. The problem is the tales aren't as interesting, but the cast is still good and make the film worth watching. The highlights are Terry Thomas as a husband who likes things to be neat and tidy, and Tom Baker as an artist out for revenge. So take a trip to the Vault and be regaled by Tales for a scary good time. Submitted by c gilman (deerfield beach, fl. usa) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Good DVD, with one problem The quality of both films on this DVD is beautiful. 'Tales From The Crypt' is uncut, but 'The Vault of Horror' has been cut in three of the five stories! I've asked Fox why. All the most horrific moments in 'The Vault of Horror' (in particular, scenes with Daniel Massey & Terry-Thomas) have been cut and the picture frozen. Buy this DVD for 'Tales From The Crypt', but not the other. This is wrong what Fox have done, they've released a DVD containing a film with three parts removed. If it wasn't for that, I would rate this DVD five stars. Submitted by Robert (St. Neots, Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$14.39 THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE is, without a doubt, the granddaddy of all splatter films. Inspired by 1950s mass murderer Ed Gein, Tobe Hooper's debut feature opens with five unsuspecting teenagers driving in a van through sun-scorched rural Texas. After a terrifying exchange with a demented hitchhiker, the group ends up at an old farmhouse. At first, the house appears to be abandoned, but soon, the evil residents begin to wreak havoc on the ...

$15.59 Chet Baker ploughs a uniquely individual furrow in the field of jazz. Recorded in June 1986, Chet is joined by Van Morrison and Elvis Costello. This historic performance -- just two years before his demise -- was also Chet's last recorded one. In the small, comfortable British club, Baker is emotional and stunning, turning in a great performance of ten tracks. In addition, the video includes a rare interview with the star, in ...
