Inside Progress Vol. 2-Inside Progress
$10.09 This is a continuous in-the-mix CD compiled and mixed by DJ Mark Farina.
On top of his game when this mix dropped in 1999, Mark Farina had risen to the rank of superstar DJ -- at least within the States, and particularly on the West Coast and in Chicago -- and represents his newfound status on San Francisco Sessions. The Om-released mix features 14 house tracks, many of them quite funky and some of them a bit jazzy. Overall, San Francisco Sessions accurately represents the Bay Area house sound -- warm, ...

Inside Progress Vol. 2-Inside Progress
$11.99 Memphis Bleek's 1999 debut album COMING OF AGE, besides being the only hip-hop album of the year that didn't include any intentional misspellings in its title, signaled the rapper's emergence from the shadow of his more experienced mentor Jay-Z. THE UNDERSTANDING picks up where its predecessor left off.
With his individual artistic status already satisfactorily established, ...
| | Lila McCann Something In The Air CD (1999)
Inside Progress Vol. 2-Inside Progress
$11.45 From the time she was five years old, Lila McCann was singing in her father's country and western band in Washington state. Still a teenager, McCann climbed high atop the country world, singing about bad marriages and a longing heart with the brio of a woman twice her age.
From the mid-tempo country-rock opening track "With You" to the slow, powerful country ballad "Kiss Me Now" and the album's closer "When You Walked Into My Life," SOMETHING IN THE AIR features top-shelf Nashville songs and McCann's exceptional voice, which often draws comparisons to her friend LeAnn Rimes. In addition to McCann's superb vocal skills, she also shows a flair for songwriting, as she co-wrote two of the sassier songs on SOMETHING IN THE AIR, "I Reckon I Will" and "Can You Hear Me," with Mark Spiro.
Original release from 1999. Second album from country songstress, including the hit single " With You".
Recorded at Masterfonics Tracking Room, Sound Stage Studios and The Workstation, Nashville, Tennessee; Sound Kitchen, Franklin, Tennessee.
Personnel: Lila McCann (background vocals); Larry Byrom (acoustic guitar); Dann Huff, Tim Pierce (electric guitar); Rob Hajacos, Stuart Duncan (steel guitar, fiddle); Paul Franklin, Sonny Garrish (steel guitar); B. James Lowry (nylon-string guitar); Aubrey Haynie (fiddle); Terry McMillan (harmonica); Steve Nathan (piano, keyboards); John Hobbs (piano); ...
| | Tronjan Twelves Box Set CD (2003) (Import) United Kingdom
Inside Progress Vol. 2-Inside Progress
$30.19 The 12" disco mix was an early-'70s innovation in reggae music brought about by the need of a DJ to keep crowds dancing. Too often a song would only last a few minutes, so DJs began to flip records over and play the instrumental, DJ, or dub side to make the song last longer. Savvy producers began to release 12" singles with extended mixes that incorporated the dub or DJ track. The longer (five-to-six-minute) mixes kept dancers on the floor longer and also had the added benefit of better sound quality due to the bigger grooves on the 12" disc. This three-CD box compiles 35 of Trojan's best 12" singles from the early '70s through the early '80s. The artists included are both big names like Bob Marley, Gregory Isaacs, and Dennis Brown and those who are lost to time, like Dad Brown, Pat Kelly, and Edi Fitzroy. Producers like King Tubby (who works his knob-twiddling magic on Leo Graham's "Three Blind Mice"), Lee Perry (who drops his own outer-spacy "Bionic Rats"), King Jammy, Bunny Lee, and Joe Gibbs can be found behind the board. This is high-quality roots reggae music, perfect for dancing but also for listening too. Hearing the dubs and DJ versions mixed ...
