Helena De Lima: Grandes Vozes album
$16.15 Celtic Woman, initially a one-shot collaboration by six leading Irish vocalists for a 2004 PBS special, struck a chord of adoration for the Emerald Isle, a fancy affecting both sides of the Atlantic, and swiftly became a permanent collective. THE GREATEST JOURNEY captures many of the best moments of elegant harmonizing by the act, from their serene and rapturous take on Enya's "Orinoco Flow" to the mournful yet poppily uplifting indigenous folk of "You Raise Me Up."
Import pressing includes two bonus tracks, Mo Ghile Mear (Live From Slane Castle) and Spanish Lady (Live From Slane Castle). Since their ...

Helena De Lima: Grandes Vozes CD music
$11.69 Having made her name as the ethereal vocalist of Vas, Azam Ali ventures forth with this shimmering solo debut. Openly influenced by Hildegard von Bingen, PORTALS OF GRACE continues Ali's long relationship with the music and stories of medieval Europe, drawing from Sephardic, Breton, and Latin sources, to name a few.
The opener, "Lasse Pour Quois," recounts the heartbreak of a 14th-century French member of a little-known order of female troubadours ...
| | Catch The Rainbow: A Tribute CD (2000)
Helena De Lima: Grandes Vozes music CDs
$10.59 Rainbow was arguably more respected and popular in Europe and Japan than in the United States, and that's a shame. Guitarist Ritchie Blackmore will always be associated with the groundbreaking Deep Purple -- and justifiably so -- but much of Rainbow's music is just as impressive. Germany embraced Rainbow, so it's no surprise that the country's hard rock musicians cite the band as a major influence. Helloween drummer Uli Kusch and Gamma Ray guitarist Henjo Richter formed the tribute band Catch the Rainbow in 1996, and soon other musicians joined this confederation. Catch the Rainbow's 11-song covers album, A Tribute to Rainbow, was released in 1999, and it features other members of Helloween and Gamma Ray as well as Grave Digger, Kingdom Come, Punch TV, Metalium, Brainstorm, Primal Fear, Rough ...
| | Phil DeGreg Brasilia CD (2004)
Helena De Lima: Grandes Vozes songs
$14.79 Phil DeGreg is well known in the mid-west as the house pianist at Cincinnati's famous Blue Wisp Jazz Club, author of the text "Jazz Keyboard Harmony", and professor of jazz studies at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. This project, his seventh CD, is an uplifting collaboration with some of Brazil's finest players, recorded in Brasilia. Jovino Santos Neto, grammy nominated Brazilian jazz pianist, composer, and author, wrote these notes to the CD:"Some of the most successful musical discoveries of recent times have taken place by the combination of elements from different cultures, exploring the contrasts and similarities between them. This happened at first within national borders, as with the blend of African and European musical languages in New Orleans which gave birth to jazz, or with the more complex mixtures which led to the many styles of Brazilian music.More recently, we can hear the results of further blends of those elaborate languages among themselves, creating yet more subtleties and colors than were ever thought possible. Phil DeGreg has added another layer to this story. An accomplished jazz pianist, composer and educator, he took on the task of absorbing the essence of the music from Brazil not as an intellectual exercise, but as a deep process of internalizing and codifying its syntax and grammar. Many other American musicians have tried this blend, with differing degrees of musical and critical success. In my opinion, Phil has done the right thing, by seriously studying the rhythmic structures underlying much of ...
