Cut during the period when she was between Chess and Alligator, this 15-song selection, cut in a French studio and live in the Netherlands in 1973, is a potent set that finds Koko Taylor ably backed by the Aces, guitarist Jimmy Rogers, and pianist Willie Mabon. Lots of familiar titles -- a live "Wang Dang Doodle," studio remakes of "I'm a Little Mixed Up" and "Twenty-Nine Ways" -- and a few numbers that aren't usually associated with Chicago's undisputed blues queen. ~ Bill Dahl
Personnel: Koko Taylor (vocals), Jimmy Rogers, Louis Myers (guitar), Willie Mabon (piano), Dave Myers (bass), Fred Below (drums).
Reissue producer: Jerry Gordon.

South Side Lady songs
$6.59 Comprising the same lineup as Street Corner Talking, Savoy Brown released Hellbound Train a year later. For this effort, Kim Simmonds' guitar theatrics are toned down a bit and the rest of the band seems to be a little less vivid and passionate with their music. The songs are still draped with Savoy Brown's sleek, bluesy feel, but the deep-rooted blues essence that so easily emerged from their last album doesn't rise as high throughout Hellbound Train's tracks. The title cut is most definitely the strongest, with Dave Walker, Simmonds, an

South Side Lady album
$13.65 DO YOU GET THE BLUES won the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album.
In the decade following his departure from The Fabulous Thunderbirds and the death of his younger brother Stevie Ray, Jimmie Vaughan quietly carved out a critically acclaimed solo career steeped in a fusion of soul and blues. Despite parting ways with Nile Rodgers, (who produced Vaughan's first two records), the laid-back Texan goes down the same creative path in assuming the production helm for DO YOU GET THE BLUES?

| | Candye Kane Superhero CD (2009)
South Side Lady CD music
$13.29 Any time a musician survives a life-altering change, you can be sure that will be reflected in the music that follows. Often a breakup/divorce, new love/marriage, drug rehabilitation/habit or religious transformation has been responsible for some of pop's most memorable music. So it's no surprise that after Candye Kane was clear of the pancreatic cancer that could easily have been her death sentence, she would reference that experience on the album immediately following the harrowing situation. Kane doesn't waste any time doing that as the opening title track to her ...

| | Christopher Kent Your Age Is None Of Your Business CD (2007)
South Side Lady songs
$6.69 Christopher's newest release Your Age is None of Your Business/What Do You Believe? was recorded during sessions for his forthcoming album "Piece of the Puzzle," due sometime in 2008.In the tradition of songwriter/artists such as Paul Simon, the new songs feature bold arrangements - a horn section, hot piano playing and wailing sax on Your Age is None of Your Business, and synths and electric lead guitar on What Do You Believe? And, as always, Christopher's lyrics will make you laugh and get you thinking."Your Age is None of Your Business was something I said one day in response to someone's complaint about getting older," Chris explains. "My comment got a big laugh, so I remembered it. Eventually it occurred to me it could make a great song concept. It took a while to work out the lyrics for the verses and bridge, but I think the result is worth it."The music is about as joyful as I've ever written, and why not?" he continues. "The song is all about affirming your life and vitality - no matter what. As far as the big arrangement, the instrumental hook that follows the chorus came to me as I was writing the music, and I heard it in my head being played by a horn section from the outset. Someone suggested boogie-woogie piano, and that felt right, too. As soon as we brought JT (John Thompson) into the studio to play the piano, he was 'answering' the horn riffs, which worked great. Finally, I decided to go for broke by adding some wailing ...
