I was born and raised in Topeka, Kansas. I began taking violin lessons at the age of five. At the age of sixteen I became a certified Suzuki Violin Instructor giving private lessons. I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Therapy from Howard University in May of 1994. I moved to Atlanta, Georgia in April of 1995 to pursue a career in Music Therapy and private Violin Instruction. I also have classroom teaching experience as an Orchestra Director and a Special Education Paraprofessional in the Clayton County Public School System. I have worked with several populations including Special Education, AIDS and Psychiatric Patients. I am also a professional performing/recording violinist and vocalist. I have professional experience performing solo, and with ensembles, throughout the United States as a violinist, vocalist, percussionist, and songwriter. I have performed for several organizations including ZAMI, Charis Books, The Atlanta Lesbian Cancer Initiative, and The Feminist Women’s Health Center. I toured the 2005 and 2006 seasons with UniverSoul Circus, visiting 26 major cities across the US, as a featured Violinist and Vocalist. I can be heard as a violinist on CD’s recorded by Doria Roberts and Left Eye Productions/TLC. I am also the owner and operator of the Lpeop Recording Studio. In my studio I have recorded and produced four CD’s displaying my wide range in styles of music. Styles include Original Music, Jazz, Rock, Spirituals, and Folk. I have given workshops and in-services on Songwriting, Jazz Improvisation and Music Therapy for The Georgia Music Therapy Association and The Suzuki Association of the Americas. I have performed in ensembles opening for Gladys Knight, Michelle N’Degeocello, Angelique Kidjo, and Alice Walker. Places performed include The Smithsonian Institution, Howard University w/The Uptown String Quartet, Emory University, Carter Baron Theater, Wolf Trap Theater w/Keter Betts, and The Variety Playhouse. I have been featured on BET’s Jazz Central program with Hue, a Jazz Trio. I have also been heard on National Public Radio’s Wade in The Water Series featuring Sweet Honey In The Rock. He was the recipient of a National Endowment Grant for Jazz Arts and was a Sundance Labs Composer Fellow in 2004.Frank Macchia - Biography Born and raised in San Francisco, CA., Frank started on the clarinet at the age of ten years old. Soon afterward he began studies on bassoon, saxophone and flute. By the age of fourteen he began studying composition, writing jazz and classical pieces for his high school band and orchestra and for jazz ensembles that rehearsed at the local union hall, including trumpeter Mike Vax's Big Band. In 1975-76 Frank wrote jazz/classical hybrid works that were performed by the San Francisco Symphony and local professional jazz musicians, and he composed and conducted an orchestral overture for his high school graduation ceremony. During this time period he also performed and arranged music for contemporary dance bands in the Bay Area. He has performed at a number of club, colleges and concert halls that include Birdland (NYC), Tavern on the Green (NYC), and the Beacon Theater (NYC). Bradford has performed in different musical settings with Jimmy Heath, Al Grey, Cecil Payne, Rufus Reid, Ray Bryant, Winard Harper, Ben Riley, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Cecil Brooks III, Jerry Butler, and The Dells. Mr. Hayes has also opened for Chico Freeman, Betty Carter, Joe Henderson, Max Roach, Marlena Shaw, Pieces of A Dream, and Hilton Ruiz among others. In addition to leading his own band, Bradford had been serving as Musical Director for Babatunde Olatunji’s Drums Of Passion Band for several years, until Mr. Olatunji’s passing. Bradford also performed with Mr. Olatunji at Yankee Stadium during Nelson Mandela’s 1st historical trip to the United States after his release from a South African prison.
