The breathtaking double-time drums, grinding guitar riff, and throat-shredding vocals on the opener, "Flesh Storm," signal the relentless sonic onslaught in store for the listener. Lyrically, too, Slayer is in fine form, exploring in typically dark fashion the pitfalls of religion, orthodoxy, and--with timely references to unrest in the Middle East--the ideology of war. But it's the band's musical chops that impress the most, with radical song structures, angular tempo changes, and blistering guitar solos that prove the legendary band is still a step ahead of their numerous followers.
This album reissue includes a new song and alternate version plus a DVD with nearly 15 minutes of special live and tour footage plus a music video. This album was Slayer's first in 15 years featuring the original line-up, as drummer Dave Lombardo returns to the fold.
2006's CHRIST ILLUSION marks a return to form for one of the fiercest and most influential metal bands in history. Slayer's original lineup reconvened in the studio for the first time since 1990's SEASONS IN THE ABYSS for CHRIST ILLUSION, and the results recall the classic sound of landmark thrash releases like 1986's REIGN IN BLOOD. Time hasn't dulled the band's terrifying intensity one iota; if anything, Slayer's sound crackles with renewed attack.

Spin (p.112) - "[The album] blends the furious muscle of 2001's GOD HATES US ALL with the more melodic experimentation of their post-REIGN work." Uncut (p.97) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "Metal production's tendency towards the crunchy and down-tuned rather suits the stop-start grind of 'Eyes Of The Insane'." Kerrang (Magazine) (p.66) - Ranked #18 in Kerrang's "20 Greatest Albums of 2006" -- "A blistering return to form that many fans hailed as the best Slayer album since the '80s." Mojo (Publisher) (p.112) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "Slayer are operating at full power once again, delivering an album of breathtaking, defiantly old-school thrash..." Slayer Christ Illusion Songs Christ Illusion Music Review Average Rating: (4.6 out of 5 stars) Slayer is back.... After Reign In Blood, Slayer´s albums were diminishing its speed and aggressiveness...they were quite boring...but with this album I think SLAYER is back...

It's Slayer, so it's gonna be good I have everything Slayer has ever put out. Slayer has never, and will never, put out a weak album. A lot of people got on them for the 90's "slowdown" around Diabolus but I think that's still a masterful album, albeit it's slower, it's just as ingenious. Slayer's real strength, to me, is that they have some of the most hard-hitting lyrics of any band in the history of metal. I mean, these guys have life pegged.
Musically, Christ Illusion is similar sounding to God Hates us All, but there has been a little infusion of the Reign sound thrown in there. Tom's yelling is enjoyable as usual, and who can ever complain about Jeff's and Kerry's guitar shredding abilities.
The lyrics follow in the vein of God Hates Us All in the ultra aggressive social and political hatred of, well, just about everything and anything.
Slayer has never put out a bad album, and this one isn't either. Not their best obviously, but it's solid. Metal fans can't really ask for much more. Submitted by cardvamp (midwest) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

good, but overrated listen, anything slayer puts out kills all others. that said,i found this to be a little overrated.maybe cuz dave is back. i personally love both paul and dave's styles. that said, reign in blood(untouchable),south of heaven(fantastic) and god hates us all(under appreciated) are my favorites. $32.69 Television executives plugged into viewers' deepest fears with the debut of TALES FROM THE CRYPT in 1989. Its original source material was the EC comic-book; the series originated on HBO and would go on to run for seven seasons. Hosted by the skeletal Crypt Keeper himself, each episode of the show offered a new, ghoulish tale to inspire nightmares in its audience. The show was such a success that a myriad of CRYPT-inspired spin-offs resulted, including an animated series, several feature films, and seemingly ...

Christ Illusion songs
$23.29 At a time when most of the first wave of Norwegian black metal bands are long gone, Darkthrone has become the senior figures of this particular subgenre almost by default; they're like the Rolling Stones of death metal. And much like the Rolling Stones around the time of Some Girls and Emotional Rescue, Darkthrone now seems to be caught between staying true to their original sound and adapting to the commercial marketplace. The album's first single, "Too Old, Too Cold" is easily the most immediately accessible song the band has ever done, sounding more like American hardcore punks the Misfits than anyone else, and elsewhere ...

Christ Illusion CD music
$14.79 Carla Ulbrich has been compared to the likes of Ray Stevens, Weird Al, Jerry Seinfeld, Chet Atkins and a bologna sandwich.A better guitar player than most bologna sandwiches, Carla originally hails from Clemson, SC, bringing her peculiar brand of humor to stages all over the US and England. This is her first CD, released in late 1999, and it covers topics such as finding the perfect man, child prodigies, chocolate, TV dating shows, dating for the food, nothing, and (Carla's most requested song) "What if Your Girlfriend was Gone." This nifty little recording was created live in the studio in Cayce (ColumPia), SC, with Jack Williams and his band gathered 'round the mics like in the old days of making records. Carla's live shows and CDs have earned her some cool awards and nice gigs: - 2006 Novelty Song of the year, Just Plain Folks Awards- 2004 Kerrville NewFolk Finalist- 2004 Falcon Ridge Most Wanted Emerging Artist- Guest of Honor, Oasis, Contata and FKO conventions- Avalon Nude Folk Festival- 2003 and 2004 USA song contest finalist- 2004 2nd place novelty album, Just Plain ...
