| | Kat Deluna 9 Lives CD Kat Deluna Discography of CDs
(3 Customer Reviews)
A former member of the Latina girl-group Coquette, New York City's Kat Deluna is an R&B singer with remarkable technical skills grounded in an earthy, knowing delivery. This 2007 debut album sizzles with a set of upbeat dance numbers co-written and produced by Deluna. The album immediately placed high on the dance charts, powered by the hit song "Whine Up" (which was also the theme for WWE's Saturday NIGHT'S MAIN EVENT), presented here in both English and Spanish.

Entertainment Weekly (p.133) - "[A] surprisingly solid debut....[The] album singles out DeLuna as a more vocally gifted descendant of the Latin freestyle divas of the late '80s." -- Grade: B Purchase 9 Lives CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Paul Butterfield Blues Band CD (1965)
9 Lives album
$6.19 The '60s Blues Revival begins here. Calling this album influential is an understatement akin to calling the Grand Canyon a rut; suffice to say that an entire generation of musicians (mostly young and white) heard this and had their lives changed forever. In fact, for at least a year after the album's release in 1965, it was impossible to walk down the hall of any college dorm in America without hearing one of the songs here echoing from somebody's room.
Heard today, the thing still packs a wallop. Butterfield's harmonica ...
| | VH1 Presents The Corrs Live In Dublin CD (2002)
9 Lives CD music
$6.39 This audio document of The Corrs' Dublin homecoming concert has pretty much everything fans of Irish pop could wish for, including an appearance from Bono in his earthly incarnation, fresh from an audience with President George W. Bush. It's to the band's credit that the charismatic singer fails to steal the show, despite creditable efforts via an anthemized version of Ryan Adams' beautifully downtempo "When the Stars Go Blue," and a great, leering rendition of Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra's "Summer Wine."
Somewhat more mysteriously, Rolling Stone Ron Wood also turns up on what sounds dangerously close to a lounge version of Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing," but this minor faux pas is redeemed by the Irish folk medley "Joy of ...
| | Drive-By Truckers Southern Rock Opera CDs (2001) Digipak
9 Lives music CDs
$11.99 A sprawling two-disc set, the Drive-By Truckers' SOUTHERN ROCK OPERA is a cracked masterpiece that's enjoyable on several different levels. Hipsters might enjoy the giggly premise of a two-disc set devoted to a slightly altered retelling of the rise and fall of 1970s Southern rock icons Lynyrd Skynyrd. Progressive rock fans lamenting the modern era's relative lack of story-driven albums divided into "Act I" and "Act II" will latch onto SOUTHERN ROCK OPERA with the same passion with which they embraced THE LAMB LIES DOWN ON BROADWAY. And most importantly, unreconstructed Southern rockers of the boogie-and-beer variety will ...
| | Antony I Am A Bird Now CD (2005)
9 Lives songs
$12.49 Though he probably achieved his greatest mainstream recognition backing up Lou Reed on tour, idiosyncratic songbird Antony is a fully established artiste in his own right. Backed by the Johnsons, as on I AM A BIRD NOW, he crafts delicate ballads that skirt the lines between cabaret, artsong, and pop, with the kind of voice that Stephin Merritt would probably kill for. Antony's unique pipes bring to mind an androgynous Bryan Ferry or a high, quavery summit meeting between Jimmy Scott (another Reed supporter) and Aaron Neville. The stately, graceful, largely piano-driven songs on I AM A BIRD NOW are full of honest, uncluttered emotion, but never go over the top. The communication is direct and immediate, as wisps of melancholy settle around the listener. Guest shots by ...
| | Dredg Catch Without Arms CD (2005)
9 Lives album
$8.49 Early on, critics often described Dredg as a metal group. However, the quartet has since matured into a hard-edged indie-rock ensemble that seeks diversity and refinement in its music. On CATCH WITHOUT ARMS, the band favors highly orchestrated parts, dense guitar riffs, and powerful drumming. Each song is based around memorable vocal hooks and sensitive lyrical content.
Many tracks on CATCH WITHOUT ARMS have a searching quality to them. Despite the sheer force of the music, this release ...

| | Deep Purple Made In Europe CD (1976) Remastered
9 Lives music CDs
$12.19 This live recording, made in 1975, comes from Ritchie Blackmore's last three concerts with the band before leaving to form Rainbow. It features Deep Purple Mark III, with David Coverdale on vocals and Glenn Hughes on bass and vocals. Coverdale is a convincing hard rock singer, though he lacks the winning quirkiness of Ian Gillan, while Hughes is a busier and more up-front player than Roger Glover. While "Burn" and "Mistreated" are worthy successors to previous Deep Purple tunes, the remaining material is weaker, and overall, this stuff is definitely a couple of notches below the glory days of Made in Japan. But Blackmore, for his swan song, still manages to inject a good deal of excitement, and his invention and fire raise the proceedings up somewhat. ~ Stephen Raiteri
