Masada - Miniseries Movie Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars)  An excellent depcition on Masada historically and acting.
For someone interested in history, drama, and / or the accounts of the first Jewish Roman War, Masada is a good film. The acting, the events, and effects are excellent. I recommend this movie.

This TV mini-series, shot in the early 80s, is about the real events that occurred in Israel prior to it's becoming a sovereign state in 1948. These historical events occurred in the 1st century A.D. Peter O'Toole (as always) plays his part magnificently, and does Peter Strauss (now deceased). It takes a while to watch, but it's on 2 discs, so you can always watch the discs on two separate nights.

Eleazar's words, as played by Peter Straus, ring true as this complete set of the Masada mini-series delivers! A powerful rendition of the fateful seige of the Judean fortress of Masada by Jewish zealots in A.D. 70 after the sacking of Jerusalem by the Roman Empire. This mini-series set does what the 2-hour movie version could not, and I could have watched another 1.5hr tape! The struggle between Jew and Roman becomes much more clear, and you can see how close the Roman army is to mutiny. It was only Cornelius Flavius Silva, Governor General of the 10th Legion and his brilliant leadership that holds the army together and seeks peace above and beyond the call of Roman duty. The 2 hr version is no comparison to this 4 tape set.

I visted Israel 2 years ago, not only did I
go the Masada; but I walked down that mountain! The movie was filed on Location which makes for a beauthful backdrop. The
acting was great. I think this movie is worth setting through!
