Bragging Rights album
$17.05 Don't let the title fool you; after listening to The Only Doo-Wop Collection You'll Ever Need, you'll definitely want more. This is a good starting point for the curious, since all the basics are here in the original hit versions: "The Great Pretender," "Earth Angel," "I Only Have Eyes for You," "Goodnight Sweetheart, Goodnight," and, thrown in for good measure, a few tracks that even vocal group scholars wouldn't ...
| | Maxwell Now CD (2001)
Bragging Rights CD music
$8.89 "Lifetime" was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.
Rebounding from the slight sophomore lag generated by 1998's EMBRYA, Maxwell's follow-up NOW abandons the neo-soul man's usual M.O. of using a conceptual arc of songs, and instead focuses on individual cuts. Romance remains the main ingredient found in this Brooklyn native's banquet of song, and although he stands firmly in the neo-soul camp of D'Angelo and Erykah, his use of various stylistic nuances once again stamps him as an original item. Twangy country-flavored licks and subtle DJ scratches pop up throughout the lament "Was My Girl," and scratchy rock guitar riffs are sparingly used over the heavy groove of "Temporary Nite." At the centerpiece is a studio version of Kate Bush's "This Woman's Work," a staple of Maxwell's concerts previously showcased on the live 1997 EP UNPLUGGED. Delivered with a crystalline falsetto, delicate strings and subtle pedal steel, it's a daring move worthy of Prince-ly accolades.
Elsewhere, Maxwell easily moves between sly funk (a percolating "Get To Know Ya") and sleek, between-the-sheets posturing (the Isley Brothers-flavored "Changed"). Other highlights include the goosebump-inducing slow jam "For Lovers Only," chugging come-on "Lifetime," and irresistible end-of-album ...

| | Ghetto Graduate CD (2006)
Bragging Rights songs
$14.79 The Chicago, IL native Ra was born Rasheed Johnson on July 03, 1983. He was raised on Chicagos Southside, in a neighborhood known for gang activity and high crime called Englewood. As a child he lived the average poor ghetto life. Ras primary family includes his mother and father, a younger brother and sister, an older sister, and an older brother, who didnt live with them. At a young age, Ra decided that he never wanted to work for anyone, and that gave him the motivation to want to own his own business. Whatever it was that he was into, he dedicated himself to that, and worked hard to achieve goals. He was always talented in everything that he did, but music is where he shined. At around 13 or so he had picked up the hobby of writing rhymes from his older brother. But it was not until his late teens, that he gained a greater appreciation of expression through music. This allowed him to reach an audience through his personal experiences and feelings. In high school, Ra decided that he didnt want to deal with the hard knocks at home anymore, so he moved in with his older brother P.V. (Poetic Vocalist). It was he, who introduced Ra to studio equipment and the actual idea of becoming an artist. At the age of 17, Ra wrote, produced, and recorded his first song, and from there he never looked back. Since then, he has been an artist that produces his own music, heartily inspired by artist such as, Timberland, The Neptunes, Kanye West, No I.D, Lil Jon, and Just Blaze. Ra also created his own style of beats. He also collaborates with two other producers, P.V. and Soul Controller, to form the powerhouse production ...
