Dos is indeed Munich-based producer Michael Fakesch's second solo album, coming down the pike nearly eight years behind its predecessor. It's as big a departure from 1999's glitchy, robotic Marion as one would expect; after all, eight years equals between 16 and 24 entirely different subgenres in this kind of Euro-electronica. Dos is an interesting blend of tightly wound, clipped beats and profoundly funky basslines: the overall effect of songs like the ridiculously danceable first single, "Soda," is that of an alternate universe where Quincy Jones brought in Kraftwerk to co-produce Michael Jackson's Off the Wall. The Prince-like falsetto vocals throughout the album (see "Complicated" for a particularly blatant Purple Rain homage) are another signpost to Fakesch's influences for this project, in which brief, atmospheric interstitials like "Crest" and "On the Floor" provide breathing room for the otherwise nonstop dance party. Dos is that rarity: a modern club record that sounds as good on the couch as it does on the dancefloor. ~ Stewart Mason
Personnel: Taprikk Sweezee (vocals); Roland Reinke (electric guitar); Helgi Jonsson (trombone); Andreas Kellner (bass guitar); Nicolai Erdmann, Bart 'Radion' Folmer, Johannes Vogt (drums); Jurczok 1001 (sound effects).

| | Teardrop Explodes Wilder CD (1981) Remastered
DOS songs
$10.15 Originally planned as THE GREAT DOMINIONS a full year beforehand, The Teardrop Explodes' sophomore effort only saw light in 1981. By this point, the public's fascination with the band was already on the wane. Not for the last time in his career, Julian Cope was busy fashioning obscurity from a potentially winning position. Against the backdrop of a group falling apart--and his own increasingly acid-fuelled instability--Cope somehow dispatched a minor psychedelic pop classic.

DOS album
$24.65 et ceci trente-six mois avant de fonder le trio RED. MANDRAGORE devient alors GEHEB-RE, puis TROLL.
Even though Jean Pascal Boffo is usually associated with the French progressive rock scene, the main comparison spawned by Infini would be to David Torn's What Means Solid, Traveller? -- Ok, Torn on an uncharacteristically cheerful day, jamming with Miriodor. The 12 tunes that comprise this album alternate between carnival ditties and witty ballads. The guitar is at the center of the proceedings, weaving multilayered patterns and taking care of all ...
| | Devo Live 1980 CD (2005)
DOS CD music
$10.19 This is a DualDisc, which contains a CD on one side of the disc and a DVD on the other.
There's no denying that Devo was one of the greatest live bands to emerge from the "new wave era," as their quirky sense of humor translated perfectly to the stage, with a variety of props, costumes, and projection screens. For visual proof once and for all, all you have to do is check out the 2005 CD/DVD dual disc Live 1980. Recorded at a show at the Phoenix Theater in Petaluma, CA (just before "Whip It" and Freedom of Choice raced up the charts), this complete-set, pro-shot performance features surprisingly strong sound and picture -- something that bootleg collectors will agree is becoming increasingly hard to find from the pre-MTV era. This is the Devo period right before they became perhaps a bit too obsessed with electronics (1982's Oh, No! It's Devo, 1984's Shout, etc.), as the quintet appears to be at its in-concert peak throughout. With only three albums of material to choose from at this point, there are quite a few interesting tracks that will be of interest to hardcore fans: "S.I.B. (Swelling Itching Brain)," "Secret Agent Man," "Be Stiff." That said, ...
| | Wayne Darling Art Of The Bass CD (2002)
DOS music CDs
$18.95 "A five piece ensemble with three basses may sound like the weirdest thing ever, but listening to this masterwork you'll hear a complete lesson in bass artistry." The Double Bassist:NHOPNiels-Henning Orsted Pedersen was described by Oscar Peterson as "arguably the most inventive bassist in jazz"Pedersen, who was customarily referred to as "NHOP", was among the most frequently recorded jazz musicians in history, having taken part in more than 400 albums. There was hardly a major international name with whom he had not played during the last 40 years.Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen, the son of a church organist, was born at Osted, Denmark, on May 27 1946. He began piano lessons at the age of seven, and at 13, when he was tall enough, took up the double bass in order to play in his family band. He made such rapid progress that, within two years, he was playing at the Montmartre Jazzhus, Copenhagen's leading jazz club.He became a member of the resident band, a trio which accompanied the parade of star soloists who passed through the club. These included the saxophonists Ben Webster, Sonny Rollins, Stan Getz and Dexter Gordon, trumpeters Chet Baker and Art Farmer, multi-instrumentalist Roland Kirk and the pianist Bill Evans. At the age of 17 he was invited to join the Count Basie orchestra, but was forced to decline, mainly on account of his youth but also because he wanted to complete his studies.Pederson's instinctive grasp of the jazz idiom allowed him to fit in with a remarkable variety of styles, including such avant garde artists as Archie Shepp and Albert Ayler. However, it was in the broad mainstream of jazz that he felt most at home. Between 1964 and 1982, and occasionally thereafter, he was a member of the Danish Radio Big Band, one of the finest jazz orchestras in Europe. He subsequently recorded an album, Ambiance (1993), which featured him accompanied by this band, in which his extraordinary technique is heard to full advantage. He had developed a method of playing pizzicato using all four fingers of the right hand, enabling him to execute very high-speed passages without sacrificing either tone or definitionDuring the early 1970s, Pedersen joined the American pianist Kenny Drew, then resident in Scandinavia, to perform duets at European festivals. Together they recorded a superb album, Duo, in 1973. He also recorded acclaimed duet albums with the guitarists Joe Pass and Philip Catherine, but it was his association with Oscar Peterson that brought him universal recognition. From 1974 until 1987, Pedersen toured regularly as a member of Peterson's trio. He was originally hired as an emergency replacement, on the recommendation ...
