| | Malkum And Chris Yes I Want To Go CD (2002)
Little Devil album
$20.29 Two veteran bluesmen team up on this collection of traditional blues songs, and the result is just plain fun. Malkum Gibson's Hohner harmonica and Chris Kleeman's steel guitar pack such a musical wallop that it's hard to believe these are the only two instruments on the album. The twosome perform mostly classic blues songs, giving especially good renditions of Brownie McGee's "Louise" and "C'mon If You're Comin'," which highlight Gibson's virtuoso harmonica playing. Another old favorite, "Gospel Train," showcases Kleeman's slide guitar work. Of their three original tunes, the best is the final track, the folksy and satirical "Big City Rag." While ...

| | dial M Close Your Eyes CD (2001)
Little Devil music CDs
$13.95 Multi-instrumentalist Dial M adds a captivating dose of technicolor to the world of techno-pop with Close Your Eyes, a sensual mixture of hip-hop, jazz, R&B, jungle, and industrial soundscapes. A minimalist with regard to song structure, arrangements, and lyrical content, Dial M creates a seductive manifesto that blossoms into a marriage of melody and groove by stockpiling snippets of repetitive phrases and angular hooks to drive home the artist's politics of redemption, love, and inner growth. "Gonna Make a Way" evokes aural visions of Buddy Guy jamming with Moby by way of reverb-laden, gut-wrenching vocal samples run through a car radio tucked into smooth string textures draped over a syncopated bassline. The title track is a collage of funky clavinet and synth pads revolving around the robotic wordplay of a computerized lover. And "Forgiveness," which treads into hyper-kinetic drum'n'bass terrain, details the concept of retrieving inner peace through ...
| | Jemmott, Jerry & Souler Energy Home Cookin' CD (2006)
Little Devil songs
$20.29 This 1st edition of Home Cookin' is all about the bass, doing the Cool Groove thang, from solo bass to bass quartets, with special guest "chefs" Sam Jacobs (www.samjacobsmusic.com) and Big Bos (www.baakyardentertainment.biz), funkinâ up some tasty stuff. Jerry Jemmott BiographyBASSIST - EDUCATOR â PERFORMING ARTIST - COMPOSER â AUTHOR â CLINICIAN - After hearing Paul Chambers 1956 recording of âIf I Were A Bellâ with the Miles Davis Quintet, Jerry started his professional two years later at the age of twelve with Smilinâ Henry & The Rhythm Makers. As a disciple of bassists Paul Chambers & Charles Mingus Bronx, New York native, Gerald Joseph Stenhouse Jemmott, got his big break when he was discovered by Rhythm'n Blues/Jazz saxophonist King Curtis, and went on to become one of the architects of the Atlantic Records and Muscle Shoals Soul sound. He was a key member among the luminaries of the versatile jazz musicians that made up the New York City recording scene of the late Sixties and early Seventies with their roots dating back to the Roaring 20's days of Thomas "Fats" Waller, who dominated the studio bands. He played on his first recording sessions in 1966, including Nina Simone's The Blues album. Thanks to his Atlantic Records connection through Curtis, Jemmott soon found work backing other Atlantic soul stars, like Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, the Rascals, Clarence Carter, Don Covay, and Roberta Flack. But that was just the tip of the iceberg; Jemmott also recorded with blues legends like B.B. King, Freddie King, Otis Rush, Lightninâ Hopkins and Champion Jack Dupree over the next decade, and backed jazz stars like Herbie Hancock, Freddie Hubbard, Les McCann, Eddie Harris, Shirley Scott, Erroll Garner, Houston ...
