This album is my thank you to Artist, Songwriters and Producers such as Gladys Knight, Teddy Pendergrass, Frankie Beverly & Maze, Curtis Mayfield, McFadden & Whitehead, Gamble & Huff, and other Soul Artist of the 70's. With each mention of 'Old School' around the world, you should stand and take your bow as your contribution to the world is absolutely clear and unchallenged. You are amongst my greatest influences and I hope you hear pieces of each you in me as I wish to honor you and remain true to the 70's soul tradition.

For fans of soul music, I hope this makes you remember that 'Reggie had a set Friday night'. Everyone was there and when you got there, the blue light was glowing from the basement and man was it on. Since the 'set' had to accommodate everyone, Reggie would turn on the strobe light for those that couldn't dance to funk and then back to the blue light on tracks that made you want to dance real close. That's what I wanted to achieve with tracks like 'Rain' and 'Can't Let Go'. So while listening, if the mood strikes, feel free to unscrew that bright white bulb, clean the dust off the blue light and hold someone close for 70s sake.

Shouldn't a song remind you where you were, what you were doing and who you were with the first time you heard it? Isn't that the magic and purpose of soul music? I hope 'Touch My Heart', 'You Love Me' or 'More Than Friends' create a special personal moment for you. What would Reggie's set be if we didn't Bop or Step? Hit me with 'Contagious', 'Open Your Soul' or 'Stay' turn the strobe light off and it's on. Oh yeah!..I promise to be smooth and not step on your toes. Remember whispering in Reggie's ear 'man play something fast'. Why is it that girls always danced better than us on the fast tracks? Revisit that night with 'Me Around', 'Toss 'N' Turn' and 'No More Love Remix'.

I believe a soul song should make you smile, make you love, make you cry, make you laugh and most of all make you remember. After all, isn't that why it's called Soul Music? Let's never forget Reggie's set. That was the time of our life. That was 'Old School' and I'm proud to have been there, with you. See you at the next set and until then do one thing for yourself!.. Keep your 'Soul Satisfied'.

Lovebrain is my manifesto. It is a labor of love that took me 9 months to record in 1994. At the time I was playing solo at The Hyatt in Smyrna,Ga. in a room called Pecan Alley. I saved my tip money and put it all into studio time. I built these tracks up little by little, starting with vocal drum sounds, adding drum and percussion samples that I played manually on an Ensoniq keyboard and adding some real drums, Guitar, many layers of keyboards, synth Bass, Vocals and the help of some great friends like Former Prince Trumpet Player Matt 'Atlanta' Bliss who encouraged me and helped me get this cd done. Other friends who contributed are Atlanta Journeyman Guitarist Cooper Tisdale, Former True Grits bandmates Winn Sizmore(The Man Who Used To Hate Disco), and Mike Hinton, who add Bass and Drums to Parachute and Tongue Tied which features a blistering Cooper Guitar solo. Mike Hinton who has appeared on all but 2 of my 7 cd's adds extra drums to 4 songs and co-wrote Farmers Market with me. My old partner Fred Crosby adds harmony to several songs and the cover of the cd features me and my wife Mindy at a Halloween party dressed as 50's teenagers in love. Musically this is my most eclectic cd. It's all over the map expressing some of my diverse influences-The Beach Boys/Todd Rundgren//Joni Mitchell-George Duke, Keith Jarret/Prince/ and Frank Zappa. Billy's Deli has always been a favorite of mine and it's the oldest song of the collection. I wrote and recorded the original version in 1985 in L.A.. This re-recorded version features my son at age 6 recreating one of the spoken lines.

Mindy#16 was written in 1987 and has always been special to me. There is a vocal version also that appears on my 5th cd Restrooms For Restaurant Customers Parts 2 and 3.

The rest of the songs were written in Atlanta after we moved here in 1988. Each song tells something about me, my life and the people in it. I have made 6 other cd's and while each one has meaning ...
