Bravo album
$11.89 Latin pop boy band Aventura has achieved no small amount of success with their unique blend of traditional Dominican bachata and sleek, Top 40-oriented R&B. THE LAST, Aventura's fifth studio release, further explores the band's swoon-worthy style, and is one of their most accomplished and impressive efforts.
As usual, the quartet plays to their strengths, which include lilting tropical ballads, with the occasional foray into hip-hop-flavored slow jams, such as "Spanish Fly," featuring cameos from Ludacris and Wyclef Jean. Additional cameos from Akon, Wisin y Yandel, and jazz legend Arturo Sandoval heighten the star appeal of THE LAST, but it's Aventura's smooth, sultry bachata-pop that steals the show.

Bravo CD music
$5.69 This is the recording that made Victor Manuelle a household name, placing him in the front rank of the most celebrated Puerto Rican salsa singers. The typically loud and brash Sergio George production seems an adequate backdrop for the talents of the improvisational singer, who finally reached his personal identity with this CD. This production features George's usual New York personnel: brass men José "Ite" Jerez, David "Piro" Rodríguez, William Cepeda, and Jimmy Bosch contribute heavily, while rhythm men Marc Quiñones, Rubén Rodríguez, and Luis Quintero, together with Manuelle's timbalero and band director, Chago Martínez, make a rabid, compelling percussive ensemble. Highlights include the smash hit "Hay Que Poner el Alma" (composed by Omar Alfanno), "Todo Quedo, Quedo," and Johnny ...
| | Blue Sky Mile Sands Once Seas CD (2003)
Bravo music CDs
$13.85 Drawing on Dag Nasty's 1988 classic Field Day, as well as modern emo rockers like Taking Back Sunday and Thrice, Seattle's Blue Sky Mile -- named for the 1990 Midnight Oil disc -- delivers powerful, intricately designed songs on Sands Once Seas. "Second Impact" gets things started, as Kevin Burrell's charging guitar interlocks with Aaron Fishbein's. Meanwhile, vocalist Jerry Kansky has a powerful mouth, one that isn't unlike Thursday's Geoff Rickly. Turning on a dime from calm to chaotic on standout tracks like "Susan Delgado" and "A Sky Full of Desert Stars," the latter track's slow-building arrangement allows Blue Sky Mile to really take flight, giving its rhythm section of bassist Mike Elliott and drummer Adam Fream the opportunity to demonstrate their individual wares. If the quintet regularly displays an affinity for both punk and indie rock, it never ...

| | Step Aside Good News CD (2007)
Bravo CD music
$10.15 Step Aside has a vision, and that vision includes a music scene that people are proud to be a part of because it never dissapoints. How do they bring this vision to reality you ask? The answer is by giving back to the fans as much as possible and providing them with the funnest and most outrageous shows. Not many bands in this day and age are concerned with providing shows like that. Step Aside is the result of a merger between two previous bands. When one of those bands, Wombat Warfare fell apart in 2003, rhythm guitarrist Vinnie Punziano joined up with two future Step Aside members Adam Kokoni and Tom Sobolow in a band called Day 4. The band became serious and started playing shows around the New York City area. In 2004, bassist Richie Fazio announced that he was leaving the band for college. Adam, Vinnie and Tom cried extensively upon hearing the news. (Tom still cries a little bit on the weekends sometimes.) The summer of 2004 was an experimental period for the band. They found a bassist and added on a third guitarrist. Under this lineup, they played one show under the name "Selfless Act" on a sidewalk in Gerritsen Beach. After a decision to revamp the band and focus on the music that they originally set out to play, the two new additions to the band were replaced with bassist and former Wombat Warfare member, Jeremy Cea. The new band named themselves Step Aside after an MTA subway add. In 2005 the band recorded the 7 song EP "Don't Be Sad" with producer and former Supertouch member Andy Guida. An extra track for the EP was recorded and produced by the band themselves in early 2006. Less than a year later, the band moved in to Vudu Studios for ...
