Life With You album
$15.19 Released in late 2006, HERE AND NOW finds country singer Darryl Worley on a new label (903 Music) and sporting a scruffier, long-haired look. With its more rocking, upbeat sound, the album leans a little bit towards Keith Urban, as well as Toby Keith, yet it still shows off Worley's own twangy, Tennessee-bred charm, most notably on the rollicking, defiant "Jumpin' Off the Wagon" and the lively, self-explanatory "Party Song."

| | Daniel Powter CD (2006) Bonus Track; +1 Bonus Track
Life With You CD music
$16.09 French Canadian singer-songwriter Daniel Powter is that rare type of popster who can craft his own compelling material and perform it well. A clear touchstone for Powter is classic Elton John, and this self-titled debut has the stamp of John's 1970s-era, piano-driven, R&B-inflected pop all over it.
Powter's single "Bad Day" has made significant commercial inroads on VH1 and AMERICAN lDOL, and the soaring, memorable hook is evidence of what Powter does best. Even better is the breezy, feel-good jam of "Song 6" and the funky groove of "Suspect," which could pass for a Macy Gray single. Powter's sliding falsetto and sharp songcraft make for an appealing listen, and signal the welcome arrival of a new talent.
International 2006 reissue of the debut album from the singer/songwriter who has achieved enormous success with singles such as 'Bad Day'. This new version of the album features the recently recorded bonus track, 'Love You Lately'. The album confirms Powter's fine songwriting talents with standout tracks like the memorable opening cut "Song 6", the driving melodies of "Suspect" and the delicate ballad "Jimmy Gets High". The first single, "Bad Day" is a remarkably infectious pop song that was a huge ...
| | Electric Light Orchestra Out Of The Blue CD (1977)
Life With You music CDs
$13.95 Nowadays, 1977 is remembered as both the year of punk and the year of disco. At the time, though, it was the year of Fleetwood Mac's RUMOURS and Electric Light Orchestra's OUT OF THE BLUE, two albums that were simply inescapable. But where overexposure made RUMOURS feel somewhat stale and dated, OUT OF THE BLUE sounds as fresh now as it did at the time. This is due in large part to the obsessive insularity of Jeff Lynne's aesthetic. He seems not to be ignoring musical trends, but to be simply unaware of them.
Lynne's mid-period Beatles fixation combines with his love of lush orchestrations and pristine production to create some of his strongest music, including the enormous hits "Turn to Stone," "Sweet Talkin' Woman" and "Mr. Blue Sky." However, the autobiographical "Birmingham Blues" suggests that Lynne was tiring of the rock-star grind, which might explain ELO's lowered profile after this release.

Personnel: Mik Kaminski (violin); Hugh McDowell, Melvyn Gale (cello); Richard Tandy (ARP synthesizer); Kelly Groucutt, Jeff Lynne, Bev Bevan (background vocals).

| | Chayanne Mi Tiempo CD (2007)
Life With You album
$9.99 On 2007's MI TIEMPO, Puerto Rican heartthrob Chayanne (born Elmer Figueroa de Arce) follows up the one-two punch of '05's DESDE SIEMPRE and CAUTIVO with another sterling set of Spanish-language pop. Led by the emotive power ballad "Si Nos Quedara Poco Tiempo," which perfectly suits Chayanne's slightly raspy voice, the album mixes other reflective songs with upbeat dance numbers, proving once again why the singer/actor has such a wide appeal.
Personnel: Prince Patrick (vocals); José Gentile, Sebastian DePeyrecave, Leo Quintero (acoustic guitar); Andrew Synowiec (E-bow); Christine T. Vitale, Robert Curtis, Susan Faux, Gerals Mordis, Gregory Vitale, Paula Oakes, Sonja Larson, Olga Kusnetzova, Maynard Goldman, Melissa Howe, Kristina Nilsson, Pattison Story (violin); Stephen Dyball, Abigail Kubert-Cross, Susan Curran-Culpo, Jean Haig, Lisa Suslowicz (viola); Wells Cunningham, Alexandre Lecarme, Ronal Lowry, Melany Dyball, Marc Moskovitz (cello); Teddy Mulet ...
| | Joe Nichols Old Things New CD (2009)
Life With You CD music
$12.55 Turning old things into something new is a key part of the job description of a country singer like Joe Nichols, and he does a slick job of it on OLD THINGS NEW, his fifth major-label album. Nichols has a fondness for all things classic country -- songs both sad and funny about drinking, songs about love won and lost, songs about small-town girls and home towns, all fueled by sawing fiddles, steel guitars, and twanging Telecasters. There's a big difference between a traditionalist and someone who follows tradition, and Nichols belongs in the latter camp, less concerned with the past than the present, admitting that booze is cheaper than a shrink, happily sliding into power-ballad mode on the slower songs. Those rock influences -- not just on bombastic ballads, but on the sweet, swaying soft rock of "Man, Woman" -- are more prominent here than before, but the music is always ...
