In 1946, she came to the attention of French singer and band leader Bernard Hilda, who offered her a contract to sing at his nightclub in Paris. She became a popular attraction in the French capital and during the next few years her reputation was established throughout Europe. When she returned to New York, she headlined at the Mocambo Club, billed as “The Girl From Paris”. Morgan became the first female vocalist to sign with the newly founded Kapp Records.
