Filly Astro is a band created by Dave Filiatrault. The music is classic rock with a unique westcoast sound. There are 10 original songs written and produced by Dave. Terry Cole is the lead vocalist with a very powerful and rich sounding voice.The other guitar player is Jan Oster who`s vocals add the great dimensions to the music. On drums is Scott McCargar who used to play with Bif Naked, and is now a very busy session player. Finally on bass is Wes Cook who is a monster bass player, who lays down the bottom end as solid as a rock. If you want to have some fun check out "Little Green Men" which is on You Tube right now, just punch in fillyastro and the video will come on. We had a blast making this video, and of course I would like to thank George W Bush for meeting up with the green men, they had a good time probing him after the show, but that can`t be shown on T.V. I know you will love my album 21st Century, because it is something you can relate with in our world and our universe. Often, supergroups wind up dominated by one particular personality - think Eric Clapton in Derek & the Dominos, Jack White in the Raconteurs -- which makes the egalitarianism of Them Crooked Vultures all the more remarkable. Of course, when it comes down to it, it's a group of three natural-born collaborators: John Paul Jones, the old studio pro who gravitated toward provocative partners after Led Zeppelin's demise, teaming up with R.E.M. as easily as he did with avant-queen Diamanda Galas and nu-folkster Sara Watkins; Dave Grohl, who hopped into an empty drummer's chair whenever the opportunity presented itself; and Josh Homme, who set up a mini-empire based entirely on jam sessions. If Them Crooked Vultures brings to mind Homme's projects more than Grohl's or Jones', it's largely due to his role as lead vocalist and how guitar can push a rhythm section as powerful as this to the side, dominating with its grinding riffs and solos. Returning to the American concert scene after a three-year layoff, the Rolling Stones recorded GET YER YA-YA'S OUT! during a triumphant two-date stand at Madison Square Garden in late November 1969 that found B.B. King and Ike & Tina Turner opening for them. A live album is usually not the way to make an impact in contemporary jazz, but pianist David Berkman's LIVE AT SMOKE might prove the current exception to the rule. Recorded at the well-regarded Upper West Side club (Smoke is the current name for the legendary Augie's), the set features not only the confident, neo-traditional stylings of Berkman himself (similar to that other brilliant traditionalist on the scene, Bill Charlap), but the equally impressive Jimmy Greene on tenor saxophone, whose nicely constructed, unfussy solos bear some comparison with current tenor master Joe Lovano.
