It's impossible to describe the anguish one experiences when told that your beautiful two year old son has a poorly understood, incurable neurologic disease. For us D-day (diagnostic day) came on 3/24/06. We went to the evaluation to be reassured that Benji didn't have autism. We left in shock, our hearts feeling as though they had been ripped from our chests - numb, helpless and despairing. A lot has passed in the year since Benji's diagnosis and the details could fill a few thousand cd jackets. With time we've regained our hope and our confidence that Benji will recover from this mysterious disease. His treatment regimen is diverse, time-consuming, experimental and expensive - running thousands of dollars each month. Our insurance covers $500/year for "mental health" benefits which is how autism is inappropriately characterized. Yet we're among the lucky whose child is getting the care and attention that he deserves. By purchasing this cd you've not only contributed to Benji's recovery but to the future of the majority of children with autism who are being neglected by the government, the insurance companies and the school disticts. Enjoy the music and please recommend the cd to others. With love and graditude, Fabien and Susan We wish to thank all of the musicians who contributed to this cd, our families who provided so much love and support over the past year and Benji's incredible team of therapists - especially Hema, Kristin, Candace, Dyanna, Sheila, Nicole, Brooke, Maureen and Zuzana. Fabsound Records Fights Autism songs
$17.09 "The six labor choruses together show the power of song as a force for social change." - PETE SEEGER, folk musician and activist extraordinaireThis recording is intended to be an archival recording of 'the best of the best' of a historic concert featuring six labor choruses from around the country, which took place in Washington DC on Saturday, June 19, 2004. The concert was part of an annual event sponsored by the Labor Heritage Foundation (LHF), known as the Great Labor Arts Exchange. The concept of a Great Choral Convergence was the brainchild of Bobbie Rabinowitz, a founding mother of the New York City Oabor Chorus and longtime labor activist. The LHF fully encouraged and supported the concept of a Great Choral Convergence. It came to fruition when six choruses, includng four labor choruses, a women's chorus and a labor ensemble performed individually and collectively to a full and spirited house at the WashingtonEthical Society. The six groups joined together for the first time to rehearse that very same day. The energy that was released by this performance was truly inspiring and is very evident onthe CD Each group - all working people, most, union members, came to this historic get together with their own repertoire and unique style of presenting and sharing labor and union songs, folk and gospel, topical and trditional music. Included are well-loved songs of the civil rights struggle, the anti-apartheid struggle and some newly composed songs for these trying times - a parody on the Bush regime, the free trade java jive update, a dramatic story in song of the activism of Nigerian women; songs highlighting legendary ...
