Laureate of the 1996 Honens International Piano Competition, Eugene Watanabe was the first artist to graduate from The Curtis Institute of Music with degrees in two instruments, piano and violin. He has displayed his prowess on both instruments by playing concerto performances with each at Carnegie Hall, New York and the Kennedy Center, Washington, D.C. At another concert with the Utah Symphony, Watanabe performed two Bach violin concertos in the first half, and a keyboard concerto in the second.Since 1997, Watanabe has devoted almost all his efforts to his piano playing. He has played concerts in the U.S., Canada and Europe, and makes a special effort to perform at public schools wherever his career takes him. Today, he is Director of The Conservatory in Salt Lake City. Rebecca's enchanting, crystalline voice has thrilled audiences in concert halls across North America.Soon after receiving her bachelor’s degree in vocal performance from the University of Toronto Ms. Whelan was engaged by the Elmer Iseler Singers, the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir and then the Amadeus choir where her solo voice was featured on many CD recordings, CBC radio broadcasts and on tours throughout North America.In 1994 she made her solo debut at Roy Thompson Hall with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra in Vaughan Williams’ Symphonie Antarctica, under the direction of Sir Andrew Davis, and has performed with the Sault Ste.
