| | Pauline York Band Blackberry Wine CD (2002)
So Long
$18.99 THE NEW ALBUM "MUDDY WATER" AVAILABLE 5/11!!!!Since jumping into the Chicago music scene in 1997, Pauline York has been putting her personal spin on American Roots & Blues Music. York, lead guitar & vocals, and her band deliver pure, honest, from-the-heart music. No smoke, mirrors, or frills here, just real music for real people. BLACKBERRY WINE, Pauline's debut CD is a blend of her many influences, coming from folk-rock, blues, and Cajun. At age 14 Pauline was exposed to the driving "Texas sound", which inspired her to explore the roots of that music. It led backwards into the music of Freddie King, and Jimmy Reed. She then went from Texas to Louisiana, where she fell in love with the Cajun sound, and to Memphis for some of that Stax Soul. The result is a fresh new sound...a style all her own. The dream of recording "Blackberry Wine" was a long-time desire for Pauline, who at the time had been doing five years worth of club dates and at the ripe old age of 25, had no CD to show for it. However, when the time came to actually go into the studio, things came together literally overnight. When asked about her studio experience, Ms. York revealed,"All of the rhythm tracks on the CD were recorded live in one room in one 12 hour block. Vocals and some guitars were recorded later, but the combined time to record the whole record was probably about three days...On some of the vocals, I was just warming up and didn't know the tape was rolling. What better way to capture the blues than to just go with the flow..."As for the contributing musicians, they fell into place in similiar fashion."Pat Boyack was in town with [Marcia Ball's] band and played some ...
