$14.39 | | Carole King Music CD (1971) Japan; Remastered
Point! album
$24.45 In an era where it's not uncommon for a superstar act to wait three or four years between releases, it's astonishing to realize that Carole King wrote and recorded a strong follow-up to 1971's bazillion-selling TAPESTRY that was released before the year was up! MUSIC was a big commercial success, but anything would pale next to the ecstatic commercial response to TAPESTRY, which was still high in the charts when this follow-up was released. The generically-titled ...

Point! music CDs
$10.15 Houston singer/songwriter and guitarist Pete Scafidi is a natural-born performer. âEven as a kid,â Pete says, âI always wanted to be the one onstage. So before I could play guitar, I used my sense of humor as a way to entertain my friends and classmates.â Mastering the guitar as a teenager, Pete has been entertaining audiences in Austin and Houston for more than 12 years, playing with several bands and performing his original work as a solo act.Pete has now recorded his first full-length CD, a self-titled album. Though the songs were originally written and performed on acoustic guitar, the CD features a full backing band. The disc was produced by Houston mixing guru Steve Christensen of Sugarhill Studios, who has worked with Destinyâs Child and Clay Walker, and mastered by Jeff Lipton of Peerless Mastering in Boston. âWith so many layered guitar tracks â including a âNashvilleâ-tuned guitar on the song âLullaby,â Steveâs experience really came ...

Point! album
$16.45 Unkle $am (Edmonton)If you canât be innovative in hiphop, you wonât last. While other artists come and go on the scene, beat boxing pioneer and Ace Records recording artist Sami âUnkle $amâ Elber has been keeping it real for over a decade with his own unique sound. âIt started 12 years ago,â Elber explained. âI used to throw down beats for my friends and the feedback was always very positive. I started to practice all the time- waiting for the bus, taking a shower- constantly.âGrowing up in Edmonton with a love of hip-hop wasnât without its own challenges for Elber, however. Hip-hop in Edmonton is a hard scene, thereâs not as much support for emcees as there is for a rock band. I really had to keep pressure on myself to stay on my game- always lining up the next show or planning an appearance at a friendâs hall party,â Elber said. Even within the niche of hip-hop itself in Edmonton, it was hard at first to get taken seriously by local rappers who took their image too seriously.âBeat boxing has always sat at the kidâs table in hip-hop,â Elber said. âWhen I first started I didnât know of any other local beat boxers in the city. Now kids are coming up to me at parties all the time telling me they beat box too, or their friend does. Iâm excited about that.âIn more recent years, beat boxing has transcended many cultural gaps to become known in the mainstream. According to Elber, when he puts on a show itâs less about competing with other performers and more about reinforcing the relationships with sound and the audience. âI want to bring more exposure to it. I love getting up on stage and celebrating beat boxing. Itâs an exhibition, not a battle.â Having roots deep in a variety of music genres like reggae, soul, funk and break beats has helped Elber connect with crowds across the globe. Whether itâs a sweaty club in Thailand, Denmark or dance halls in Egypt, the rest of the globe gets the connection and gets it quickly, Elber said.âThereâs less of an obsession with the gangster image in hip hop in places like Europe and Asia,â Elber said. âThe scene outside of North America is incredibly supportive of the art form. Thereâs an instant connection with the crowd.â While other young artists are trying desperately to get behind big names in hip hop inside the studio to help boost their image, Elber has been working the front lines, putting himself in front of legendary performers like Method Man, Redman, Pete Rock , CL Smooth and Hell Razah on stage and in front of fans. âI prefer that feel-good vibe you can bring to a live show. I like to take my sound and reach deep into your chest and shake it up so you walk around at the club for the rest of the night is like youâve got a fever,â Elber said. âOther emcees have to bring all this equipment just to bring their sound to the show. I say give me a microphone and I can do a show right now- I am my sound.âShamik (Vancouver)Shamik hears music in his head and uses beatboxing to bring it to life. He has performed in Canada, USA, Czech Republic, India, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Indonesia. With crushing basslines and crisp rhythms, Shamik has captivated audiences from nightclubs to outdoor festivals by creating a DJ set with his mouth. Career highlights include Rothbury ...
