| | For Heaven's Sake CD - Import Kevin Trio Hays Discography of CDs
From The New Yorker Magazine's 'Best of 2006" :“For Heaven’s Sake†(Jazz Eyes)—There are plenty of talented pianists under the age of fifty, but few have Hays’s melodic charms and sense of style. Here he produces superbly designed improvisations on standards and jazz classics. He reworks Sonny Rollins’s “Sonnymoon for Two†by stretching out the phrasing, to great effect; Hays is a player who knows that he isn’t being paid by the note." Other Quotes on Kevin : "..... a jolt of joy!" ~ The New York Times "Kevin Hays is a true original. Everything he plays has a deep intelligence and swing." ~ Brad Mehldau "He's all-encompassing; phenomenally so!" ~ John Scofield/Universal Recording Artist ".....Exquisite at every turn." ~ Musician Magazine "I've never met a musician who is as perfect in their approach to improvisation. I've learned a lot working with him." ~ Nicholas Payton For Heaven's Sake Songs | 1. | Sonny Moon For Two |

| | Baptist Generals No Silver/No Gold CD (2003)
For Heaven's Sake music CDs
$12.39 A deeply strange, personal album, the Baptist Generals' No Silver/No Gold is much more than the sum of its parts. The group plays the kind of spare, threadbare indie rock that flirts with folk and country without committing to either; Chris Flemmons' biting, nasal vocals are the audio equivalent of vinegar, cutting through the band's shambling racket of strummy acoustic guitars, cellos, organs, and bashed drums bringing No Silver/No Gold together as a remarkably fresh and vital album, despite -- or perhaps because of -- its ornery ways. On songs like "Ay Distress," a heartfelt, acoustic ballad that's interrupted abruptly by violent studio commotion, the Baptist Generals come across as both sensitive and unhinged, a mix of Dylanesque insight and trippy ferocity that recalls Roky Erickson. This volatility, along with the gritty recording quality (which gives No Silver/No Gold so much character that it should be credited as a member of the band) makes each song teeter unpredictably between beauty and ugliness. The haltingly lovely "Going Back Song," the scruffy "Preservatine" and the spacey "Feds on the Highway," tend more toward the former; "Alcohol (Turn & Fall)" and "Burning" tend toward the latter, their raw guitars and vocals sounding ...

For Heaven's Sake album
$12.69 Tom was never the same after the alien abduction. The small gray beings with the dark eyes had stirred something deep inside his soul with their mental prodding and had brought to the surface a flood of ideas and sounds that would manifest themselves only in his dreams. "There ain't nothing better, than the smell of brand new leather..." These lyrics woke Tom at three A.M. He wrote them down and NEW SHOES was born. Over the next six months, ten songs were written. The title song 'New Shoes' combined basic blues changes with a twist and 'tongue in cheek' lyrics. 'Sexy Moves' wrote itself in less than two hours forging Latin rhythms and his love for the PT Cruiser. He found it very disconcerting that his nocturnal aberrations brought his feelings and thoughts sonically forward. The small gray men had only stimulated the sleeping music in Tom's mind. After hours of tossing, turning, and hearing the same old thing, 'Monotonous' was created on the back of an envelope and recorded the next day. Tom then wrote 'Wake up Dead' drawing on his spirituality to warn "We must give and seek forgiveness, before we wake up dead". The sequel, of course, was 'Universal Dream', offering a glimpse of Kolob. Not all of the songs were deep and meaningful. The comic 'He's my Clone' expresses just how moronic science can be! And 'Chain Reaction' is a reminder of just how wonderful love is. Its sequel 'Can we Make up', yet another reminder ...
