$11.35 There are a number of elements that will grab the casual consumer's attention here, but let's face it, George Fenton's score isn't one of them. That's not to say his passionate, sensitive, often humorous orchestral compositions are unremarkable; his score is the perfect ...

3 Way Project
$15.19 Trent Hanna wrote his first piece of music, Three Rat Boogie, at the age of eight. This work was lost years ago, but he still continues to compose to this day. Recently, his three-movement solo piano work, Dorland, won first place in the 2006 Contemporary Japanese and American Music Composition Competition. Due to this, he performed Dorland and several other piano compositions of his March 2007 on two concerts in Japan.Sojournal is Hanna’s debut album. Each piece on the CD represents a place of fondness in the composer’s life. The first four tracks on the CD contain a four-movement work entitled A Tiburon Panorama. While performing at the NOW Music Festival in San Francisco in May 2006, Trent was fortunate enough to stay at a cottage in Tiburon that overlooked the San Francisco Bay. The view from the cottage was very inspirational to him. Each of the movements represents a particular place he could see from the cottage. The first movement, Mt. Tam (Mount Tamalpais), recalls a hike he and his friend took one afternoon. The next day, they rode their bikes to Sausalito and ate at a quaint taco stand. His depiction of Golden Gate is one in which the fog almost completely masks the bridge. Finally, The City of San Francisco, with all its interesting and unique sounds, concludes the work.Trent’s father has lived in quite a few different places, but Red Feather Lakes is easily one of the composer’s favorites. North of Rocky Mountain National Park, Red Feather Lakes is a wonderful place for not only “getting away from it all,” but also a great place for outdoor fun, during both winter and summer. Each summer as Trent was growing up, his family would stay at a different State or National Park thanks to his dad being a park ranger. Hanna’s favorite summer residence, hands down, was Isle Royale National Park, located in the northern tip of Lake Superior. He returned to the island at the age of 15 for his first solo back packing trip. During the summer of 2004 he was fortunate enough to be chosen as an Artist-in-Residence of Isle Royale National Park. He stayed in a small cabin without electricity or running water on the northeast coast of the island, and composed Isle Royale during his stay.Close to his hometown in Texas, Somerville Lake was a popular spot in which to go hang out on the weekends, and a Somerville Sunset was always worth the wait.Trent was slightly disappointed when his Dad moved from Red Feather Lakes to Cheyenne. But soon the Cheyenne Skies showed him the beauty of this new country.Dorland (I, II, and III) represents triumph over tribulation. During a difficult time in the composer’s life, he forced himself to a piano and started playing in hopes that somehow it would help him return to a semblance of normalcy. The rhythmic repeated pattern he started playing became the beginning of the first movement and gave birth to the main three-note motive used throughout the three movements. While he had begun and completed the first movement in 1997, he only had sketches of the second and third. In 2001 as a Artist-in-Residence at the Dorland Mountain Arts Colony in Temecula, California, he completed the final two “etudes,” inspired by the beauty ...
