Dirty Linen (p.86) - "Davies returns to her smokin' blues origins, and on BLUES BLAST she recreates an old-time soul review with a bluesy twist." Debbie Davies Blues Blast Songs Blues Blast Music Review Average Rating: (4.8 out of 5 stars) Nice Debbie Davies CD This is a nice classic Debbie Davies album. Nothing surprisingly new. The addition of Tab Benoit, Coco Montoya and Charlie Musselwhite makes the album more musically enjoyable. The best song, in my opinion, on the cd is 'Crawling King Snake' by Tab Benoit.
Certainly worth buying. Submitted by wjh453 (Chicago,IL) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.

Blues At Its' Best What a great CD. From the first song you know you are going to have a good time. With Coco and Chalie and her side Debbie puts forth a great blues CD and it is hard to find a favourite song, they are all great. Just the way they feed off of each other guitar solo after solo, with Mr. Charles on harp. AWESOME! Just think how Mr.Collins band was blessed to have of course Mr.Collins, Mr.Gayden on bass, and Ms. Debbies. Great cd. Submitted by chad_newfield (Phoenix, AZ, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Tab Benoit Fever For The Bayou CD (2005)
Blues Blast CD music
$14.59 Tab Benoit's latest release on Telarc, Fever for the Bayou, continues in what has become Benoit's signature territory, a funky, ragged blend of Louisiana swamp blues and East Texas guitar, with hints of funk, soul, and country thrown in to give the gumbo just the right spice. If it sounds like a formula, well, Benoit's jagged guitar playing and increasingly soulful vocals make it clear that this is the music he loves, so it hardly matters. He touches a lot of bases here, including an eerie approximation of Elmore James' slide sound on a cover of James' "I Can't Hold ...

Blues Blast CD music
$13.15 Maurice Richard Libby is a musician and visual artist. He takes a consistent approach to his work in both media, mixing and matching his tools on tried-and-tested structures. Musically, he draws on experience and a diverse set of influences, including jazz, funk, world music and hip-hop, to create a very personal, coherent and enduring blues sound.Ray Charles and Louis Armstrong sparked Maurice's interest in music and in 'blue' sounds. He started to experiment with a number of instruments as a child and was soon winning awards with his first band.Still in his teens, Maurice sang and played harmonica in the blues group Red Meat, which featured his brother Michael on Drums and Ray Montana, the Regina guitarist who went on to back up Sawyer Brown, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Waylon Jennings and Johnny Paycheck. After moving to Toronto, Maurice took on the persona of Whiteboy Slim. His driving blues outfit, Automatic Slim, was a popular live attraction, filling classic venues like the El Mocambo, The Silver Dollar Saloon, and the Black Swan. Automatic Slim was the house band at four different clubs on different nights of the week, and was noted for having best grossing Wednesday night downstairs at the El Mocambo. Maurice shared the stage during this period with other key Canadian blues artists, such as the brilliant guitarist and harmonica player, Michael Picket, and the Kendall-Wall Blues band. When personnel changes eventually shut down Automatic Slim, Maurice embarked ...

$16.45 Neilston (around the 60s and 70s)That Wee Village on the HillNeilston is the last outpost on the Glasgow railway line. The track ends abruptly about 9 miles south west of Glasgow. A signpost bluntly states, “Neilston High.” Whether this message alludes to the village mentality or the geography is open for interpretation. The Neilston area isn’t exactly on the established tourist route. This is not a dramatic landscape. There are no craggy peaks or Niagara waterfalls, but every Neilstonian will gladly rant lyrical about places like Cowden Hall, The Killoch Glen, The Midgie Glen, The Pad, The Snypes, The Craigie, the Glanderson Dam and the Toad Wood. All these hidden corners stand as individual monuments of solitude. Neilston’s countryside is bleak, tough, and lonely. I believe these qualities are what gives it its character.Neilstonians are very proud of their roots. They even have their own anthem: “The Farmer’s Boy.” We would all sing it at Neilston Juniors football matches. Well, we’d sing the first line anyway, till it faded into “da da de da dum da cough cough.” Ah, but we did put a lot of passion into that one line. When I was wee, the Neilston Main Street had the aura of a ghost town. Abandoned buildings with broken windows lined the main street. I can remember when my father was laying a foundation for a large kennel in our back yard, he casually collected bricks for the job from the piles that lay amongst the rubble and carted them home in a rusty wheelbarrow. Amidst these ruins crouched a dingy wee cobbler shop with walls of straw and plaster. Nearby stood Mrs. Morton’s clothes shop with shelves piled precariously high with shoe boxes. On a crumbling ...
