| | George Benson Greatest Hits Of All CD (2003) Remastered
Henry Darger CD music
$10.19 Recorded between 1976 & 1998. Includes liner notes by Don Heckman.
Basically, this "greatest hits of all" is simply that: the highest-charting tracks in George Benson's long career -- highest-charting pop and adult contemporary tracks, that is. Benson had been on the scene over a decade before signing with Warner Bros., and many of his jukebox and R&B hits were recorded for Creed Taylor's CTI label. Some ...

Henry Darger music CDs

| | Miles Davis Sketches Of Spain CD (1960) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Henry Darger songs
$6.75 The crown jewel of the epic Evans/Davis triptych that began with MILES AHEAD and PORGY AND BESS, SKETCHES OF SPAIN is as emotionally compelling as any performance in the trumpeter's remarkable body of works. Combining as it does the emotional gravity of two cultures--the deep song of flamenco music and the rich lament of the blues--SKETCHES OF SPAIN is a musical hybrid of enormous power and beauty. Gil Evans' immense canvas of orchestral colors inspires some of Davis' most deeply felt solo flights. He paints vast vistas of velvety, ...

| | Poetic Soul: Mirror Images Of Eddie Oliver CD (2003)
Henry Darger songs
$14.79 If you haven't heard of Eddie Oliver, then you will hear of Eddie Oliver real soon. And if you have not witnessed this artist in action, then you should make it a point to do so real, real soon. It would be a treat indeed to catch Eddie Oliver spitting tales about urban life, love, spirituality, or even politics. His listeners love his smooth delivery and vocal expression, in addition to having a great respect for the topics and subject matters that he eloquently chooses to tackle. Eddie is known for his range and may speak about anything from love, politics, racism, or religion as evident by his spoken word CD entitled POETIC SOUL-MIRROR IMAGES OF EDDIE OLIVER. The CD, POETIC SOUL, is laced with Hip-Hop, Jazz, and soulful rhythms and is exalted by many as a soulful masterpiece. He is without question, one of the most influential, up and coming spoken word artists living in the great city of Atlanta, Georgia. A native of Orlando, Florida, Eddie left home in 1999 to pursue his dreams of writing. While searching for more national exposure for his art form, he stumbled across the Atlanta poetry scene where he has strived and succeeded in earning the respect of being called one of the top spoken word artists in the country. He has captivated fans from all walks of life while performing at grand events throughout the country. Eddie has graced many, many stages ...
| | Jim Cifelli Groove Station CD (2005)
Henry Darger album
$13.15 The funk/groove sound: It's done exceptionally well on Groove Station, where trumpeter Jim Cifelli tries on a groove suit for his latest release. And it proves itself a sleek fit for him.The focus is also on a tight group sound and a crisp dynamic. The solos stay short and tasty and always in the pocket. Cifelli's smooth shift of gears from a mainstream sound to groove/funk may come as a surprise to fans of his Nonet discs. The title tune opens the set with a cooking power trio groove, a whisper of organ before the horns blow in, the group sounding like it could be backing Wilson Pickett or Sam and Dave. "Chaotica" has a more modern feel, with Cifelli using the mute alongside guest Joel Frahm on soprano sax, with a sound that would fit right in with a Miles Davis/Marcus Miller arrangement. "Long Time Comin'" wails in on a bluesy, Albert King-ish guitar by Dave Phelps, followed by more of Cifelli's mute work; and "Sertao" slips some smooth Brazilian flavor into the ...

| | Fwap Perfect World CD (2006)
Henry Darger album
$13.15 fwap is comprised of 3 musicians, all with deep and rich musical backgrounds.Andy West - BassWest says his musical career can be divided into four phases. First, there was the Dixie Dregs (later just the Dregs) era, which began when he met guitarist Steve Morse in high school in Augusta, Georgia. The two formed a band that played the usual Zeppelin and Cream covers and evolved gradually into the Dixie Dregs. The group released six albums and split up in 1983, when Andy entered his second phase. He spent a few years in Northern California giving bass lessons, doing occasional side projects, and attempting to form his own band. He was introduced to experimental guitarist Henry Kaiser and played in Kaiser's Crazy Backwards Alphabet, which recorded an album and toured California and Western Europe in 1986-'87. During this time he also performed on guitarist Vinnie Moore's Mind's Eye and recorded with Paul Barrere of Little Feat. Eventually, West met guitarist Joaquin Lievano; the two moved to Los Angeles and formed Zazen, an "eclectic new-age instrumental band." This was the third and longest period of Andy's career. Zazen released over a dozen albums on private labels and produced 4 commercial releases. In 1993, West took a hiatus from Zazen and entered his fourth, current phase. He moved to Chicago, where he formed his own trio "It was a mix of really interesting heavy, industrial, sampled, chops-oriented stuff," he says. Recent years work has been the recording of the Mistakes' eponymous CD, a reunion of the Dregs that resulted in 1999's 'California Screamin' album, and the Magna carta album 'Andy West with Rama - Rama 1' (featuring Rod Morgenstein, Mike Portnoy, Mike Keneally and others). He is fully occupied with the latest incarnation of Zazen and the formation of fwap with long time associate Joaquin Lievano. (parts excerpted from Bass ...
