The World Is Yours is the fifth studio album from former Stone Roses vocalist Ian Brown and sees the legendary Mancunian at the top of his game. A lush, orchestral workout that recalls Marvin Gaye's classic What's Going On, The World Is Yours is arguably Brown's best. Lyrically tough and mature, there is a wisdom dripping out of the songs that will cement Brown's iconic status. TWIY features collaborations with Sinead O'Connor, Sex Pistols Paul Cook and Steve Jones, Happy Mondays' Paul Ryder, and The Smiths' Andy Rourke. 12 tracks including the first single 'Illegal Attacks'. World Is Yours songs
$33.75 The Small Faces present their four disc U.K. import reissue release OGDEN'S NUT GONE FLAKE.
Having begun their career as the archetypal Mod band, the Small Faces latterly embraced traces of flower-power's whimsy. Astute enough not to sacrifice their identity, the quartet retained a distinctive perspective, as evinced by a string of superb pop singles, including "Here Comes The Nice" and "Itchycoo Park." A sense of pop melody and adventurism culminated on this album which encompassed tongue-in-cheek fun ("Lazy Sunday") and passionate love songs ("Afterglow"). Steve Marriott's voice remains completely self-assured and the group's characteristic organ-based swell is often enhanced by P.P. Arnold's emotional backing vocals. Eccentric comedian Stanley Unwin narrates the concept suite "Happiness Stan," but the music is strong enough to withstand the novelty tag. OGDENS' NUT GONE FLAKE was the Small Faces' swan-song, at least until an ill-starred reunion, but it proved a fitting end to a golden era.

| | Wonder Stuff Live At The BBC CDs (2007) England
World Is Yours MP3 Album
$27.05 (MP3 Available for Download) Indie undergrounders turned grebo heroes turned pop monsters the Wonder Stuff's alternate history is revealed via their British radio appearances on BBC Sessions. We first meet the Stuff in late 1987, playing a quartet of songs recorded for Radio One DJ Janice Long, all of which would reappear on their debut album The Eight Legged Groove Machine. At the time, the group were already ferociously finding their stylistic feet, and an insouciance worthy of the Small Faces helped lay the foundation for the entire Brit-pop movement to come. By the summer of 1991, when the Stuff recorded their next radio session, they were already huge stars, and their pop transformation was complete. A year later, the BBC caught them in all their glory at that summer's Reading Festival, strutting through a set stuffed with hits and songs culled from their recently released, chart busting Never Loved Elvis album. Another full concert, recorded in Leicester, in March, 1994, found the group seemingly going from strength to strength, even if we now know that the end was already nigh. However, the Wonder Stuff went out on a high note, with a ferocious performance at the Phoenix Festival in July that year. This compilation ends fittingly with two numbers from that show. Live, the Stuff really were wonderful, as this set well shows, and it really didn't matter what clothes or label they were laboring under at the time. ~ Dave Thompson

| | Joel Plaskett In Need Of Medical Attention CD (2007)
World Is Yours music CDs
$12.98 Canada has produced some of the world's most enduring songwriters and Joel Plaskett belongs on the top shelf with the best of them.Since spending his teenaged years recording and touring with Halifax indie upstarts Thrush Hermit, Plaskett has been writing his own story. After releasing two critically acclaimed albums - In Need of Medical Attention (1999) and Down At The Khyber (2001) - independently, Joel signed to MapleMusic Recordings for the release of 2003's Truthfully Truthfully, a rock tour de force with his band, The Emergency. That record scored with critics and fans alike and truly put Plaskett on the national radar once and for all. Truthfully Truthfully was nominated for a Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year and won an East Coast Music Award for Rock Recording of the Year. During a summer break from touring in 2004, Joel responded to a longtime fan's offer of free recording time at a home studio in Mesa, Arizona. He packed up his trusty Chevy Suburban and drove across America with his songwriting notebook in the passenger seat. The results of that journey are currently available on Plaskett's MapleMusic effort, a solo album called La De Da.The album is "solo" in the sense that Joel plays all the instruments but it's by no means a simple acoustic project. It also isn't a permanent move away from his work with The Emergency. Rather, it's the mark of an artist at home with his instincts and his creative muse and one that's willing to follow fearlessly where those imperatives lead.La De Da has attracted attention in regional and national media and topped the Canadian campus music chart for months running.Joel's DVD release, Make A Little Noise is a collection of typically amazing live performances featuring the excellent Emergency band as well as solo shows - with a collection of family and friends - from the Marquee Club and Rebecca Cohn Auditorium in his hometown of Halifax, Nova Scotia as well as Toronto’s Hugh’s Room. It also includes the entire video library from Joel’s CDs: In Need of Medical Attention - 1999, Down at the Khyber – 2001 (nominated for Best New Artist Juno), Truthfully Truthfully – 2003 (nominated for Alternative Album of the Year Juno) and La De Da - 2004, plenty of never-before-seen material and a couple of surprises as well. The DVD package contains a bonus CD EP with three new Emergency songs, produced by Gordie Johnson (Big Sugar, Black Crowes, The Trews). The first single, (Can I Go) Nowhere With You, became a staple at Canadian radio charting at #3 on Hot AC charts and earned Joel the 2007 ECMA Songwriter of the Year Award. Joel’s latest Emergency release, Ashtray Rock (released April 17, 2007) is a concept album about two young rockers caught in a band-fracturing love triangle. It's easily the best thing Plaskett's ever done, as well as one of the most ambitiously executed Can-rock records in years. On their own, the songs are superb. In first single "Snowed In/Cruisin'" and "The Instrumental," Plaskett brilliantly reclaims the riff-rock he'd seemingly forgotten in his solo years. The Mamas And The Papas tease of "Nothing More To Say" is ensnaring, and "Fashionable People" is like an anti-Bowie response track plucked from the past. Best, though, is that beyond being excellent songs on their own, they all work ...

$12.89 (MP3 Available for Download) After a few genre-hopping pop-crossover albums, trance master Paul Van Dyk makes a strong return to form on the decidedly genre-specific IN BETWEEN. Consisting of a seamlessly segued program of original songs that ebb and flow with all the nuanced subtlety of a finely crafted DJ-mix, the album showcases more pop-oriented vocal tracks, as well as the sweeping, synthesized orchestrations of progressive trance. Featuring guest appearances by singer-songwriter Ashley Tomberlin and Pussycat ...
| | Melissa Etheridge Awakening CD (2007)
World Is Yours MP3 Album
$13.75 (MP3 Available for Download) Melissa Etheridge's first full-length studio outing since her late 2004 diagnosis of breast cancer and subsequent chemotherapy, THE AWAKENING is the sound of a performer who has literally found a new lease on life. While Etheridge has never lacked passion, this set of songs is strikingly emotional, as evinced on the poppy yet poignant single "Message to Myself," which clearly references her illness and recovery. Those concerned that the raspy-voiced singer/guitarist ...
