| | Trophy Husbands Dark And Bloody Ground CD (2000)
Sharpshooter EP music CDs
$3.00 The cover of this record promises a dark and sinister song cycle focussing on the Pleasant Valley War, an unsavory episode of Arizona history. In fact, the liner notes of the album give a brief sketch of the conflict. Imagine one's surprise to find out that that is not the case at all. Instead we have a grab bag of traditional alt-country themes, big trucks, guys with hats, women who are always just that much smarter than their men. Yawn. The point the Trophy Husbands miss, along with so many of their alt-country brethren, is that what makes a great country record is sincerity. You have to believe in what you're saying. It has to matter to you. Otherwise it doesn't matter how good a player you are. If, at the base of it, you just couldn't give a damn, or worse, have some sort of snide contempt for the issues and people you sing of, you make an album like this. Not bad. Just boring. ~ Rob Ferrier
Tales of mentally scarred bank robbers, unrepentant sinners, and harrowing frontier battles mixed with traditional country sounds, this westward looking debut album is simply hard not to like. The clean, undiluted country-rock shuffle of "Everybody Knows," the endearingly off-the-cuff sounding "She Don't Love You," and the bouncing cow-punk of "Up and Gone" make for a nicely varied sound. Well versed in old school C&W, the honky-tonk of "Big Wheel" certainly recalls Junior Brown, just as "Just Call Me Lonesome" brings to mind the classic steel guitar drenched sound of the Flying Burrito Brothers. ...

| | Between Two Lions Put This City On My Shoulders CD (2006)
Sharpshooter EP album
$12.69 PUT THIS CITY ON MY SHOULDERS. Brent Engle, Eric Moore, and brothers Todd and Tim Corley were all born, raised, and live in the small town of New Albany, Indiana, making music under the name BETWEEN TWO LIONS. Inspired by this shared upbringing and their longtime friendship, the band has made a record that blurs the line between the alternative rock and country genres with an artist’s precision.Put This City On My Shoulders is the band’s second album and represents a whole new level of ambition. The album tells the story of someone growing up in a small town; leaving to explore the world; then returning, resigned to the fact that he can never truly leave; and finally embracing that fact. Lyricist Engle’s feeling of attachment to the region is a common thread throughout his writing on the record. In keeping with the spirit of the album’s title, the band chose an oil on canvas abstract painting by local Louisville artist and friend Michael Nicolas entitled “City”, for the album cover artwork. Engle makes no secret that the painting, with the words “Put this city on my shoulders” scribed across its canvas, was the inspiration ...

Axis Magazine www.axismag.com" . . . If there were ever a couple of kids who never should've heard the phrase 'go out and get a real job,' it's Jordan and Thomas . . . " excerpt from FAMILY BY THE GRACE OF GOD -- Justin Strout, Orlando Weekly"I listened to as many songs as I could last night on the two websites, and haven't heard music this good in a long time." Peter Hund - Good New Music www.goodnewmusic.com"The Wynn Brothers tore it up with a beautiful set, tight and soulful - they were well-received by their plentiful friends and fans as well as the pre-Mofro crowd, quite a win-win situation. This is a band that is going places." OrlandoCityBeat.com Ear Bud/Bing Futch" . . . arrived in time to see the Wynn Brothers Band, which set the mood with a terrific set despite some technical problems after the opening cover of "The Weight.'' The big family ensemble's blend of harmonies and guitars is mighty intoxicating." Jim Abbott - SoundBoard - Orlando Sentinel * * * * * *If you like The Band, Tom Petty, Neil Young or just good old fashion rock n' roll, you'll LOVE The Wynn Brothers Band. In fact, it's one of the Orlando Weekly's Favorite Bands of 2005! As their name suggests, The Wynn Brothers Band is led by two brothers, Thomas (rhythm guitar/vocals) and Jordan Wynn(bass/vocals). But the family ties don't stop there: their drummer dad, Tom Wynn, (Orlando 60's We the People and Capricorn Studios Recording Artists Cowboy), contributes several decades' worth of performing experience and anchoring melodious beat.Obviously, it's hard for a family to remain exclusively male. Sister Olivia joins the Wynn men, adding her sweet yet haunting harmonies , as well as Jordan's bride Heather Lee Wynn, who also brings a full vocal range and theatrical intensity to the gritty mix of guys and guitars.Though he's not technically family, Lee "Uncle Leroy" ...
| | Brad Wilson Cities & Songs CD (2006)
Sharpshooter EP music CDs
$12.65 Brad Wilson is a music artist for the 21st century – a killer blues player who can rock the house all night long with the best of them, and an introspective singer-songwriter whose voice rings true at alt-country, Americana, R&B, and flat-out Rock N Roll. Brad’s talent is so fierce and his inspiration so strong that his music draws in equal measure from classic blues and urban R&B, from alt-country and modern rock without compromising his integrity or missing a beat.- Brad's music has been featured in John Carpenter's last two films and soundtracks, Vampires and Ghosts Of Mars. - His song "Teaser," from Vampires, which BMG Records in Europe released as a single, was not only as the first cut on the soundtrack, but the only song on the record with vocals. The record won a Saturn Award that year for Best Music against some heavy competition. Saturn Awards are given annually by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films. - With legendary producer Bruce Robb at the helm, the guitarist's stunning solo guitar work is featured throughout the instrumental track, "Can't Let You Go," on Ghosts Of Mars. - ABC-TV's ...
