Linea De Oro album
$15.64 By 2009, the duo of Llandel Malave Veguilla (Wisin) and Juan Morera (Yandel) were well established as reggaeton royalty. While Wisin & Yandel professed a desire to return to their mid-1990s, pre-reggaeton explosion style on their seventh record, LA REVOLUCION, their heady fusion of disco-era Latin R&B and up-to-the-moment street-hop continues to evolve unabated. It's Wisin & Yandel's show, and they open it with proper bravado on the title track, injecting a sly romantic undercurrent to what could have been a straight boasting banger. Proof positive of the Puerto Rican pair's prowess comes on "Mujeres In The Club" where 50 Cent slows his drawl to a mesmerizing crawl, pocketing his swagger, simply augmenting a slyly seductive single.
Released just weeks after their previous album, Los Extraterrestres won Billboard's 2009 Latin Rhythm Album of the Year award, La Revolucion finds reggaeton superstars Wisin & Yandel on a serious roll. After the opening title track suggests a futuristic concept album on the scale of Don Omar's 2009 release, iDon, La Revolucion slips into a much more standard album for the duo, which is hardly a disappointment. Bouncing between grand club numbers and smooth ballads, the overall structure is familiar to all returning fans, but just like Omar in 2009, the duo have become fans of Euro-disco synths and urban dance music. The slick "Quitame El Dolor" stomps the ground ...

$10.35 The story behind Sharpen Your Teeth is odd yet plausible: a mentally unstable character named Edgar Graham (calling himself Ugly Casanova) met up with Modest Mouse, followed them around on tour, recorded some songs, gave the recordings to labels, and then mysteriously disappeared. Songs on tapes discovered by Sub Pop were later recorded by Issac Brock of Modest Mouse in hopes that Graham would resurface. The first solo record from the singer/guitarist, Sharpen Your Teeth, cuts into raw indie rock with spells of country and folk, while allowing Brock to explore a varying scope of sounds. ...

Linea De Oro CD music
$21.55 Pass It OnAlbert Calvo (Vintage Music) By Dave Hughes Australian guitarist Albert Calvo's CD "Pass It On" begins with three tunes that fit right in with the current contempo genre. However, a better picture of Calvo's individual talents begins to emerge with cut 4; "Insights" features Calvo improvising thoughtfully on nylon-string acoustic guitar over a background sea of sustained synthesizer chords. Next, "Virtual Samba" rolls along happily with percolating percussion and nice guitar and flute solos. The Brazilian beat continues a la Luis Bonfa or Oscar Castro-Neves on "Yours Forever," followed by the Latin-flavored "Super 60 Strut." Samples of Take 6's signature sound add an interesting dimension to "Calious Groove," as does the full-bodied sound of the Hammond B-3 organ. The CD closes in style with another samba with flute and guitar, "It's Worth the Wait." (Vintage Music) Tracks: For My Friends; Pass It On; Selah; Insights; Virtual Samba; Yours Forever; Super 60 Strut; Calious Groove; It's Worth the Wait. Personnel: Albert Calvo, George Golla, guitars; Christopher Soulos, bass; Noel Elmowy, keyboards; Casey Greene, flute; Andrew Oh, Alan Webb, sax; Phillip Elmowy, percussion; Land Richards, Bill Kezelos, drums. http://visionx /jazz/cdreview.htm-----------------StarportraitAlbert Calvo - Pass it onJoe Pass aka Joseph Anthony Passalaqua is one of the great and most significant guitar virtuoso of the past century. His albums released for the label Pablo made him famous worldwide. He played with Ella Fitzgerald, Benny Goodman, Oscar Peterson, Dizzy Gillespie, Milt Jackson, Duke Ellington and Count Basie. Until his death of cancer he stayed active as guitarplayer. His influence on many guitarists worldwide is indisputable. Albert Calvo performed in the premier performance of Australian Composer Peter Scuthorp's „Conquest of Mexico" which was headed by the late great jazz guitarist Joe Pass and classical guitar virtuoso John Williams. So it's not unusual, that Albert Calvo choosed this play on word as title for his album. Albert Calvo , who plays acoustic and electric guitars, assembled good musicians among others such alike Christopher Soulos, bass, Noel Elmowy, keyboards and synthbass, Philip Elmowy on percussion. Good friends, the opening track, begins with keyboard chords presenting Calvo's melodious guitar. Followed by Elmowy's contemplative piano play Calvo showcases with a nice guitar solo his own virtuosity on this instrument. As Albert Calvo remarks, "Its Smooth Jazz all the way". Pass it on, obviously a tribute to the lost hero of Jazz Joe Pass, manifests Calvo's more jazzy side. A first visit card of Latin Jazz feelin', the easy played piece ends with Latin percussion. Selah is a slow tempo and romantic guitar piece combining acoustic and electric guitar wonderfully supported ...
