| | Alice Cooper Killer CD (1971) Gold; Limited Edition
Number 5 album
$20.19 Alice Cooper's second release of 1971, KILLER, helped solidify the band's position as rock's most notorious, shocking, violent, sleazy, and theatrical band of the day. Cut from the same musical cloth as its predecessor, LOVE IT TO DEATH, KILLER replaces the space-rock of their earliest releases with blaring hard rock. Also, the band successfully broadened its palette on KILLER by adding orchestrated sounds and synthesizers to the mix.
Several tracks would become Alice Cooper staples, such as the vicious "Desperado" (which uses acoustic guitar and a string section to great effect), ...
| | Mott The Hoople All The Young Dudes CD (1972) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Number 5 CD music
$6.79 In 1973, the members of Mott the Hoople were tired. Island Records had dropped the band after three albums, as sales were low and audience interest was almost non-existent. But the band had a famous fan in David Bowie, who offered to write them one single to give them a leg up. That single was the chart-topping "All the Young Dudes," a glitter-era wink-wink celebration of male bonding that name-checked chart-toppers T. Rex and repositioned the once-laddish band as glammy, androgynous scenesters. Obviously, an album was called for.
Produced by Bowie and opening with a smoking cover of "Sweet Jane" that played a major role in raising ...

| | Jay Ansill Lost World CD (1996)
Number 5 songs
$16.45 In 1996, Jay Ansill put together an album that should have been a classic, but within a year of it’s release, the record label folded and years went by before Ansill could recover the unsold stock. A LOST WORLD is a collection of poems by Robert Graves (I, Claudius, Goodbye to All That, The White Goddess) set to music. Jay put together an incredible collection of singers and musicians, all of whom have outdone themselves in helping to bring the music and words to life. Featured on the CD are Anne Hills, John Gorka, Richard Shindell, Johnny Cunningham, Priscilla Herdman, Seamus Egan, John Roberts and Tony Barrand, Ken LaRoche, Larry Cohen and others.Jay’s central instrument is the Celtic harp, but this is not a “harp album”. The music is written and arranged to fit the poems. There are songs with guitars, violins, bass, drums, songs with string quartet and harp, there are flutes, trumpets, a French horn, a hammered dulcimer, mandolins and various percussion instruments. Already having established himself as one of Philadelphia’s leading folk musicians, Jay Ansill’s compositions combine his vast knowledge of a variety of folk styles with classical sensibilities to create a new kind of music. The poetry of Robert Graves makes for a perfect match with Ansill’s music. Graves, whose father was a collector ...
| | Kingston Trio Greatest Hits CD (2003)
Number 5 album
$6.45 The Kingston Trio (Dave Guard, Nick Reynolds, Bob Shane) were a California-based folk harmony group who took refined (some would say sanitized) traditional folk songs to the top of the charts several times during their peak years of 1957 to 1963. Their remarkable commercial success really began in 1938, when folklorist Frank Warner field-recorded North Carolina banjo player Frank Proffitt playing a vicious Appalachian murder balled entitled "Tom Dula." That song, morphed and cleaned up a bit, became the Kingston Trio's first big hit 20 years later as "Tom Dooley." The trio took another old banjo player's tune, Clarence Ashley's "Greenback Dollar," on to the charts a couple years later and, after Guard's departure in 1961 (he was replaced by John Stewart), completed the banjo hat trick by taking Pete Seeger's "Where Have All the Flowers Gone" ...
