 Thunder Rockin'
The so-called term of southern rock should never have been written. The Allman Brothers were asked along time ago what they thought about the term and their thought was explicitly negative, as were many other bands from the southeast region of this country. Blackfoot also should not be catagorized by that term. These 4 musicians(the original line-up that is) could rally up there with the Bon Jovi's, Heart's, Joe Walsh's among others. The group was made up of three native Americans and one caucasian(spelling?) guitar player extrodinaire, and no I'm definitely not dissin' Mr. Medlocke, although he could have been chastized (which he has been) for not doing the reunion, but to each his own. This greatest recordings is where one should start if their just beginning to enjoy the band. I believe the first 2 albums didn't generate much radio airplay, but then along came album number three simply called "Strikes", which set the ball to rolling for Blackfoot. "Greatest" will absolutely satisfy your craving for hard, raunchy, straight ahead rock n roll. One of the best slide solos to ever be recorded is on the track "Train, Train", where Ricky Medlocke and the boys just(as Hank Williams Sr. put it so aptly) set the woods on fire. I double-dog dare anyone to sit still with this tune blasting away. I say to all, check this out. There'll be no regrets, satisfaction will be guaranteed. Dig it.
