| | Seal System CD Seal Discography of CDs
(5 Customer Reviews)
SYSTEM percolates with thumping grooves and electronic beats, but the album still has a dreamy, glossy sheen. Even uptempo tracks such as "Amazing" and "Dumb," wash over the listener like waves, with Seal's emotive, textured voice high in the mix. Despite a misstep (a sappy duet with bride Heidi Klum on "Wedding Day"), SYSTEM proves to be one of Seal's best albums.
For SYSTEM, his fifth studio album, Seal hired producer Stuart Price, the man responsible for Madonna's disco-oriented comeback album, CONFESSIONS ON A DANCE FLOOR. Price's touch is all over the album, which brings Seal's smooth, atmospheric soul-pop back to the house-music roots of his early-1990s debut.
Additional personnel: Eric Schermerhorn (guitars); Chris Bruce (acoustic guitar); Bill Bottrell (Mellotron).

Rolling Stone (p.80) - 3.5 stars out of 5 -- "[T]he beats add to Seal's heartthrobbery....'Rolling' is a dramatic acoustic ballad..." Entertainment Weekly (p.78) - "[H]is lyrics remain grounded in the sort of heart-wrenching poignancy that anchored his most popular ballads." System Music Review Average Rating: (4.4 out of 5 stars) nothing shocking from Seal what can you say really............ Seal does it again. truly a gift for me to hear. he continues to break the rules for his genre (whatever you would call it). i don't like hearing that he's pop, so i'll call it 'unique'. Seal is certainly a unique artist and man. god bless Seal! Submitted by acemyn (NY,NY) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
This album is a hit!!!!!!!!!!!! When I first hear that Seal wanted to release a dance album, I was very afraid it was going to be 11 songs that all sounded like "The Right Life". But to my relief, this album is quite diverse in styles. This is one of those albums that you can put on and let play all the way through without skipping songs. IMO, Seal has topped his last album, Seal IV but still hasn't beaten out the unreleased "Togetherland". Submitted by CWDevine (Krypton,1983,USA) Was This Review Helpful? A fun, upbeat, and great sounding album Awesome sound on this album! I just can not get enough of the first song "If its in my mind its on my face". Absolutely awesome song with crisp synthesizer lines and drum beats. Seal sounds great too. Submitted by adams4_99 (New York) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
its seal, what do you expect? The guy is freaking amazing, he is to me, the phil collins of this era, he is a amazing songwriter and singer, great album for a great artist, seal is just great as always Submitted by Chris (Tennessee) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Great New Album by Seal! Seal's back at it again, this time with some serious dance feel. Seal claims that this album signifies a return back to his roots with Stuart Price taking over as producer.
I must admit at first, the use of electronics was a bit heavy for my tastes. Given a few listens, this album grew quickly.
System is a lyrically meaningful and a personal album for Seal. As each song is great in it's own right, my fav's are "If It's In My Mind, It's On My Face," "Immaculate," "Just Like Before," and "Rolling."
This is one of the few albums out there with unskippable songs. A great album. Submitted by James (Oshkosh, WI, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 0 of 1 found this helpful.

System
$10.45 From the spacious, catchy title track that kicks things off, HUMAN BEING continues Seal's unique brand of pop craftsmanship. Filled with the pure, soulful vocals, dramatic compositions and airy arrangements that resonate with Seal's worldwide audience, the album is another fine addition to his canon. Introducing programming into the mix, he expands on the already miles-deep sonic palette which marks all of his work, thanks in part to producer Trevor Horn, who miraculously makes even the busiest musical passage seem as expansive as the heavens.
The strong but elegant march of "State Of Grace" drives home Seal's seriousness of purpose, both lyrically and musically. "The Latest Craze" boasts sweet harmonic accompaniment and subtle programming adornment. Things move up close for the tender "Just Like You Said," which features an unusually up-front vocal and acoustic guitar track in a slow, steady build to the kind of dramatic burst of energy that's become a Seal trademark.
Personnel: Seal (vocals, guitar); Earl Harvin (guitar, drums); Danny Saber (guitar, percussion, programming); Chester Kamen, Chris Bruce, Gregg Arreguin, Gus Isadore, Ramon Stagnaro, Wendy Melvoin (guitar); Grant Mitchell, Jamie Muhoberac (keyboards, programming); ...
| | Seal IV CD (2003)
System
$15.65 Seal's first album since 1998, and the third of his career to be self-titled, is the singer-songwriter's most sophisticated masterpiece to date. 12 tracks packaged in digipak format. Produced by Trevor Horn. Warner. 2003.
All set to record what would become SEAL IV, the album's namesake ended up tossing a large number of tracks and returned to his London hometown to start anew after living in Los Angeles for 12 years. The result is a dozen songs with a gritty texture that better reflect the Paddington-born native's affinity for soul and reggae more so than prior work. Blessed with a burnished vocal style, Seal uses it to great effect whether he's growling out the intro to irresistible numbers like the swaggering "Waiting for You" or sounding like a cross between Teddy Pendergrass and Bobby Womack on the party invitation "Get It Together." Longtime producer Trevor Horn keeps a steady hand on the rudder, executing a concise balance of lush orchestral arrangements and ethereal keyboards on songs ranging from the ambient lovemaking invitation "Heavenly...(Good Feeling)" or the can't-miss slow jam "Don't Make Me Wait." Seal's ...
| | Stevie Wonder Time To Love CD (2005)
System
$13.69 On his first studio album since 1995's CONVERSATION PIECE, R&B legend Stevie Wonder revisits familiar ground from earlier eras in his career while keeping with contemporary pop sounds. Although certain tracks conjure up the vibe of early Wonder outings (the funky "Please Don't Hurt My Baby" and the sunny, upbeat "Positivity," which features additional vocals by his daughter Aisha Morris), other tunes (the smooth "From the Bottom of My Heart" and the romantic "Passionate Raindrops") recall his more polished '80s period.
A TIME 2 LOVE is bookended by two of its strongest songs--"If Your Love Cannot Be Moved," an urgent ...
| | Nelly Furtado Loose CD (2006)
System
$10.39 On her third studio album, LOOSE, Nelly Furtado largely abandons the bohemian vibe of previous outings, opting for an energetic, club-ready sound said to be influenced by the time she spent recording in Miami. The Canadian-born singer-songwriter approaches this significant change with wild abandon, as revealed on the sensual singles "Promiscuous," a remarkably catchy dance-pop tune that features Timbaland, and "Maneater," a leering, techno-tinged track. The percussive "No Hay Igual" finds Furtado delving into reggaeton, ...
| | Iron Maiden - Death On The Road DVDs (2003)

| | Seal Soul CD (2008)
System
$14.59 The title of this 2008 release, and the cover art--a b&w photo featuring Seal in a suit and tie crooning into a microphone--should give listeners a fair idea of the album's nature. A glance at the track list, which includes soul classics by Sam Cooke, Al Green, Curtis Mayfield, and Otis Redding, confirms the supposition. Seal has been settling more comfortably into his role as an adult contemporary singer, and SOUL, on which the British vocalist interprets 12 American R&B gems in elegant fashion, finds him fully inhabiting the niche once and for all..
Seal may yet join the mainstream ranks of Rod Stewart and Michael Buble with his sophisticated covers and accessible sound, but his singing on SOUL is still full of the passion and intensity that characterize his earlier material. His take on Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna ...
| | Lisa Gerrard Duality CD (1998)
System
$20.95 Dead Can Dance singer Lisa Gerrard teams up with percussionist Pieter Bourke on this experiment in musical "fusion cooking." In fact, the selections on DUALITY exemplify the belief that, in the end, all musical styles are related.
Gerrard's voice is heard on DUALITY in a number of contexts. From the liturgical leanings of "The Comforter," which features multi-tracked Gerrard vocals, to the stark Middle Eastern-inflected "Shadow Magnet," this album abounds with references to exotic lands and ancient musical styles. Droning undercurrents, striking uses of Eastern modalities, gorgeous layers of baroque harmonies, ...
