Empirical CD music
$6.75 A surprise best-seller when it was first released, this mostly improvised pairing of singer/keyboardist/producer Al Kooper with two major guitar heroes of the day sounds fascinating all these years later precisely because of the distance of time--nobody makes records like this any more. The material runs the gamut from folk pop (covers of Donovan and Dylan), to blues ("Albert's Shuffle," "You Don't Love Me"), to heady jams ("His Holy Modal Majesty"), to big-band jazz ("Harvey's Tune").

$13.59 This double-CD set is not only the best of Bill Chase's output but -- comprising all three of their albums -- virtually their complete finished studio work, before the plane crash that killed Chase and much of the group. The mastering on this Wounded Bird reissue is excellent, with a full solid bass sound topped by soaring highs on the brass and no compression to speak of. It's not as though this catalog has been overused, in terms of its master tape library -- apart from the hit "Get It On" -- but it's still good to know that the stuff has been well handled in terms of being digitalized. Additionally, the producers have reprinted Nat Hentoff's original essay about ...
| | David Bromberg My Own House/You Should See The Rest Of The Band CD (1999)
Empirical CD music
$6.79 As of the late 1990s, guitarist and fiddler David Bromberg was in musical semi-retirement, supplementing his day job (making his living buying and selling American-made violins) with the odd club gig. But in the 1970s, he had a thriving career as both a bandleader and a sideman, having played on seminal recordings by Bob Dylan, the Eagles, and Jerry Jeff Walker, among others. This disc includes two of his early albums: first, the acoustic and largely solo My Own House, on which he plays a program that ranges from traditional Scottish and American fiddle tunes through Delta blues and songs by Hoagy Carmichael and Phil Spector. Talk about Americana. The second album included on this disc couldn't be more of a contrast: You Should See the Rest of the Band is a live ...

| | Mychael John Thomas Home CD (2007)
Empirical CD music
$13.89 Mychael began playing guitar at age eleven, and by age fourteen he was playing various club circuits all around the Southeast. At seventeen, he recorded and released his first album with his band, Felt, which consisted of friends from the North Alabama area. The album achieved regional success on the East coast, but the band dissolved after one tour.In 1978, Mychael signed with Tree Publishing (now Sony/ATV) as a staff writer, where he met producer Cliff Williamson. Together they produced one album for RCA Free Flight Records, titled Neon Dreams, which was released in 1979. This album also achieved moderate success and was the largest monetary deal in Nashville history at that time. The title song, "Neon Dreams," was a top ten hit in San Francisco for eight weeks, and "The Life Sonata," the first ever composition for Rock Guitar Orchestra, received a mention in Guitar Player magazine and still gets airplay in Japan and Europe. In 1980, Mychael moved back into the session scene. For the next seven years, he worked with various artists from New York to Nashville. He also worked at Opryland during that time writing, producing, and playing in the live rock music shows. He was a staff writer for Multimedia Entertainment (producers of Phil Donahue) and wrote the music for "The Great American Music Video," a children's special that aired on NBC.In 1987, Mychael committed his life to Jesus. He began a free tape and CD ministry specializing in Christian rock music. He worked in youth ministry for ten years, including two one-year stints as a youth and music minister. From 1988 to 2006 Mychael also worked as a private ...

$9.89 Warning: you won't be able to get the title track out of your head. Sorry ya'll I warned ya. If you smoke pot you've at some point thought to yourself - Who Got The Marijuana? Same with the up beat pop tongue twister Diggity Dank - it'll be in your head all day. Hundreds of stoners have already added My Space Weed Page to their um, MySpace page appropriately. There is a quiz embedded in the track Are You A Pot Head? Perhaps the song title implies it. You'll need a #2 pencil. Ever seen more than 1 KMK show? If so then you've already lived this dream - I just made it into a track on my disc - I Wanna Tour With The KMK. I truly believe in the ...
