| | Jim Brickman Homecoming CD - Import Jim Brickman Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
Presenting a slightly different spin on the tried-and-true holiday album, New Age/pop pianist Jim Brickman opens this predominantly Christmas-oriented outing with "Thanksgiving," a spare, delicate piece that evokes late autumn. The rest of 2007's HOMECOMING returns to the Yuletide theme, though, with Brickman mixing originals (the expressive "Coming Home for Christmas" with vocalist Richie McDonald) and time-honored classics, including a light, airy take on "I Saw Three Ships." Homecoming album
$11.55 Recorded live at Capitol Theatre, Salt Lake City, Utah on March 27 & 28, 2000. Includes liner notes by Jim Brickman.
Pianist/Composer Jim Brickman isn't content with the instrumental pop/new age label that's so often slapped onto the work of artists who make quietly pretty, radio-friendly, instrumental music. Brickman doesn't seem to want to be anybody's musical wallpaper, so this live album features several contributions from renowned guest vocalists and instrumentalists.

$15.95 This is a continuous in-the-mix CD compiled and mixed by DJ David Waxman.
Despite the rather unfortunate title, Ultra Chilled, Vol. 1 assembles some of the most established names in down-tempo electronica and trip-hop, mixing them with some relative unknowns. The flow from Dido ...

Homecoming album
$11.89 Lovelife, the title of Jimmy Sommers' second recording on his own label, Gemini Records, under license to Higher Octave Jazz, has obvious romantic connotations fitting for a saxman who made People magazine's list of Top 50 Bachelors in 2002. Yet that wasn't the concept on his mind when he named the recording after the throbbing retro-funk ...

$16.45 It’s not easy to say exactly who Fernando is…………..In fact, we’re not even sure that’s his real name….Everything we know about him is confusing, because none of us know who he is or where he is for that matter. We run into him at teknivals…or an e-mail comes in … that’s about it!He doesn’t talk a lot about himself and when he does you never know if he’s taking the p**s or not.One thing we know for sure is that he’s a man from the East. From some half-bit ex- Soviet town, maybe in Cecenia or further South. He says the name of the place is Opachichi. What else do we know? He’s about 30, got a degree in physics (or maybe maths). He’s an electro-head, a programmer, and he collects analog synths. He lives in an old Russian army truck that’s pretty damned cool inside. 1 dude live set and a satellite internet connection. It seems that he’s got some hangout in the South of Spain somewhere too. Some old storeroom or something by the sea, overlooking Morocco. He gets by flogging or swapping old Russian army stuff for western European ...
| | Adam Werner Signatures CD (2007)
Homecoming songs
$18.99 Adam Werner ~ SignaturesAdam Werner’s debut label release, “Signatures,” on New Land Music, is a 15-track album of instrumental acoustic guitar music that is a culmination of emotionally intense compositions with technically exceptional playing and profound musical energy. This album merges the traditions of “finger-style” guitar techniques with provocative percussive elements and interesting textures, which adds an extra flavor to this style of music. A touch of electronic bass, masterfully created by Kentaro Otsuka, is featured on this album. There is a wide range of instrumentation and technique, from standard 6-string acoustic guitar to 12-string harp guitar, coupled with eBows, bass and percussion. This album takes you on a music journey to the far reaches of the solo acoustic guitar cosmos, with such tunes as, “Home in Hanalei,” “Vienna,” & “An Evening at Black Canyon” to more aggressive and creative tracks as, “The Final Journey: The Scenic Route,” “Apprentice of a Dead Man,” & “Into the Light.” This will prove to be a great addition to this genre of music, ...

| | Margie Balter Music From My Heart CD (2007)
Homecoming CD music
$10.15 More than simply another brilliant composer and piano performer, Margie Balter has been making sweet music with some of Hollywood's biggest names for nearly two decades as "Piano Teacher to the Stars." Launching this side of her multifaceted career by coaching Holly Hunter for her Oscar-winning role in The Piano, the versatile musician, composer, songwriter, and artist has worked with Tom Cruise (on piano and harpsichord for Interview with the Vampire), Sandra Bullock (The Net), Scarlett Johansson (The Man Who Wasn't There), Sanaa Lathan (Disappearing Acts), Barbara Hershey (Portrait of a Lady), Kevin Spacey (Beyond the Sea), and Jack Black (The Holiday). In the 2005 Beauty Shop starring Queen Latifah, Balter had an incredible six individual credits. Besides teaching Djimon Hounsou and young Paige Hurd to play, her original composition "Finding My Wings" was featured during a key recital scene as the end segment of a medley where Hurd segues from Chopin to John Coltrane's "Giant Steps" and into a more modern performing style. This special piece designed to chronicle the metamorphosis of Hurd's character, Vanessa, was the spark that led Balter to fulfill her own lifelong dream to release her first solo piano CD -- and indeed, Music from My Heart is beautifully played, melodic, often bluesy and jazzy, and rhythmic. Her classical influences also ensure a depth that many new age-oriented solo piano projects lack. The recording is both a celebration of some of the compositional highlights of Balter's career and a showcase for some of her colorful new material. Among the highlights are "Little M" and "Miles & Mefa," two pieces from her 1998 film score debut, Light Speed; the opening track, "First Baywatch," which she wrote with her friend Cathy Wyatt for one of her students, a lifeguard/producer who conceived Baywatch; "Whisper in the Dark," which Balter wrote for her star-studded 1993 piano recital the same year The Piano came out; "Bluesie," composed for Beauty Shop as a segue from French composer Erik Satie to blues; and "For Thee a Small Wall-tz," originally written in her college years. Balter's newer original pieces include the African-influenced "Zanzi" and the haunting yet wistful "Crystal Dream." ~ Jonathan Widran
