Epic biography about legendary cowboy Wyatt Earp. The film spans Earp's life, from his youth, when blood and gore made him deeply uncomfortable, to his role in the famous gunfight at the O.K. Corral, to his becoming a rigid, by-the-book sheriff. Also dramatized are Earp's relationships with his brothers and their wives, and with loyal friend Doc Holliday, who is dying of tuberculosis.

An epic (at least in length), personal telling of the life of legendary lawman Wyatt Earp. This dark film traces the early development of his strong sense of family loyalty and follows his career as a marshal with his brothers and his friend Doc Holliday. Academy Award Nominations: Best Cinematography.

Shot in Technicolor and Dolby. Copyright 1994 Warner Bros. Rated BBFC 12 by the British Board of Film Classification.

5 stars Cinematography of the first order
Lawrence Kasdan's "horseopera" holds up very well. Not only do you get first rate cinematography but Kevin Costner's character is much more engaging than the one Kurt Russell played in George P. Cosmatos' "Tombstone" epic. But you can hardly compare the two movies because the direcors' approach to the subject varies a lot. A must for Western fans for sure, but the picture deserves a musch bigger audicence. Gene Hackman delivers the goods as he usually does but the acting on all sides is excellent throughout the entire running time.

4 stars True Western Movie to get you back in time!
I think this movie was well acted and displayed life in those times. Kevin Coster played his part very well, I like him more now than before the movie. Gene Hackman, as always the true gentleman, teacher, symbol of authority and mentor. It's nice to see a real movie without all the bay things of todays error.

Wyatt Earp review
Blu-ray (Playable only on Blu-ray Players) $22.79
Director Oliver Stone chalks up an ambitious entry on his biopic résumé (past entries include films about Jim Morrison, Richard Nixon, and JFK, among others) with this cinematic treatise on the life of the mighty Alexander the Great. Despite his early death at 32, Alexander packed some unimaginable conquests into his limited years, ruling over a huge chunk of the globe. Stone draws on a voice-over narration provided by Anthony Hopkins, in the character of Ptolemy, one of Alexander's generals, to describe some of the battles. Thus, Stone shifts the weight of the film to focus on the personality of Alexander (Colin Farrell), a man who is stricken by overwhelming personal insecurities that contrast with his bold achievements. Complex dealings with his mother (Angelina Jolie) and father (Val Kilmer) plague him, as does his turbulent ...

Arthur Golden's blockbuster bestseller, MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA, has been brilliantly brought to the big screen by Oscar-nominated director Rob Marshall (CHICAGO). The film opens in a remote Japanese fishing village in 1929, where two sisters, Chiyo and Satsu, are sold by their troubled father to people who place Chiyo in a classy geisha house known as an okiya in Gion and Satsu in a much more vulgar and dangerous district. Chiyo becomes a maid to Hatsumomo, a cold, controlling, and calculating geisha who is instantly jealous of Chiyo's unusual, beautiful eyes and childish innocence. Chiyo is befriended by Pumpkin, another maid at the okiya, but the two are soon driven apart. Chiyo is shown compassion by the Chairman and another, more successful geisha, Mameha, who takes her under her wing as her "little sister," furthering the battle between Chiyo, now called Sayuri, and Hatsumomo. As Sayuri ...

As a counterpoint to the heroic horde of THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN, the aging gunmen of Sam Peckinpah's masterpiece break the very laws of honor which bind them in this bloody and meditative tale of the American West--widely considered to be the self-conscious nail in the coffin of the genre. William Holden, Robert Ryan, and Ernest Borgnine star as the leaders of a grizzled crew of Texan bandits who ride to Mexico, where, one by one, they are unceremoniously ...

Standup comedian Dane Cook (EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH) stars in this romantic comedy as Charlie Logan, a successful dentist cursed with the affliction of having the women he dates fall in love with the next guy they meet. After a 1985 flashback reveals how, as a child, Charlie came to be hexed, the film finds the grown bachelor taking advantage of his predicament. Because he's never really loved any of the women he's dated, it doesn't hurt much when they leave. But when rumors start circulating that sleeping with Charlie is a lucky love charm, Charlie's popularity reaches new heights that even he, an experienced ladies' man, cannot keep up with. And this luck couldn't come at a worse time, as Charlie's just met his dream girl, penguin zookeeper ...

Demonstrating the same understanding of the complexities of human relationships that characterized his 2006 film, THE UPSIDE OF ANGER, and his short-lived HBO series, THE MIND OF THE MARRIED MAN, writer/director Mike Binder once again taps into the same fertile ground in this story of one man's difficulty reconnecting with the world after experiencing a great tragedy. In another role showcasing his relatively untapped talent for dramatic roles, Adam Sandler is Charlie Fineman, a New York dentist whose post-traumatic stress caused by the loss of his wife and children on 9/11 sees him regressing to a sort of second childhood dominated by videogames, record collecting, and riding his motor scooter around the city. A chance run-in with his former college roommate, fellow dentist, and family man Alan Johnson (Don Cheadle) spurs Charlie's first attempts at remembering his past. But though Alan is genuinely glad to try and help Charlie, it will take more than the company of a good friend to get Charlie back to the world. Striking just the right balance between comedy and ...

Wyatt Earp movie DVD
Blu-ray (Playable only on Blu-ray Players) $22.75
From its opening shot of Malcolm McDowell staring with evil intent directly into the camera (which pulls back to reveal him drinking a glass of milk), Stanley Kubrick's brilliant A CLOCKWORK ORANGE announces itself as a completely new kind of viewing experience. The film, set in an unidentified future, overwhelms the senses with its almost comic depictions of rape and violence set to an upbeat classical and pop music score. Kubrick based his chilling masterpiece on Anthony Burgess's culture-shaking novel about a young man growing into adulthood, but unable to shake his huge problem with authority figures. The first part of the film shows Alex (a career-defining performance by McDowell) and his "droogs" (his cohorts) indulging in what they refer to as "a little bit of the old ultraviolence." After establishing Alex and co. as unremitting psychopaths, Kubrick's movie changes tact, and shows Alex getting ...
