Juan Cummings grew up in New York City. Juan has been a lover of music since he was a little boy running around Dyckman Houses. The first musical influence for Juan was George Benson. The song breezin' by George Benson still remains one Juan's favorite songs. The next artist to influence Juan was Sade. According to Juan, Sade and her smooth jazz sound became his mistress. From the way she produced to the vocal tune, Juan took it all in. Living in Dyckman Houses exposed Juan to many other forms of music like house music, R&B, blues, rock, jazz, and rap. The music Juan was exposed to can be heard in every song he creates. From Quincy Jones to Prince, from Bonnie Raitt to 2 Pac and many more have influenced Juan to create. When Juan was in college at New York University he took a music production program and fell deep in love with the idea of expressing his thoughts and ideas through the sound of music. Juan passed the class but had no idea what was in store for him. The very first song Juan ever completed was Love You Anymore. Juan said that Love You Anymore was a personal release for him. It was the first time Juan could say something without being disrespected for his feelings. Juan also told us that Love You Anymore was a direct response to his ex girlfriend at the time. Juan said that she had an abortion behind his back and he needed a way to release his hurt, and trust me you can hear the hurt with the whaling guitar and verbal lyrics that simply say "It's not the same as it was before, I no longer love you any more". Juan said he put those lyrics in to let his exgirlfriend know where his heart was. Today Juan is 17 going 18 cd's deep in to his music project with much more to come. Currently Juan is working on new projects and also releasing his first cd titled Suede. Juan says that Suede is a project that has many good songs. Suede takes you on a ride that just feels good, no cursing, no name calling, no this, no that. Just good music. All of my music are wonderful projects. Everything I do is from the heart, and I want everyone to enjoy each and every cd from start to finish. I just want the world to hear all of my music. I want my music to be the things that unwinds you from a long day and makes you feel good about you and only you. I asked Juan does he do anything for people who buy his cd. Juan said yes I do. If you purchase the cd Suede, there is a hidden track not listed on the track list. The song is It's A Love Thing (Soul Stepp'in) remix. I hope everyone enjoys everything. I also asked Juan about future music projects. Juan said that Suede The Remix will be coming out very soon, and to get ready to jam. Juan said he is hoping to have Suede The Remix out by the end of the summer. In this writers view I can't wait to hear all of this wonderful music from such a good person. | | Peter White Good Day CD (2009)
Suede CD music
$14.95 Many people think of smooth jazz as something that didn't start until the 1980s, but arguably, smooth jazz started around 1966-1968 with the overtly commercial, pop-drenched albums that guitarist Wes Montgomery recorded during the last few years of his life. Love it or hate it, Montgomery's more commercial output had a major impact on Peter White and many other guitarists who have contributed to smooth jazz (including George Benson, Lee Ritenour, Earl Klugh, Chuck Loeb, and Henry Johnson). Musically, a lot has changed since the '60s, but the more things change in music, the ...

| | Christian Trio Jacob Time Lines CD (1999)
Suede music CDs
$18.99 Christian Jacob's second CD as a leader finds the pianist building upon his debut with harmonically sophisticated and complex yet accessible improvisations. He performs five originals (including hard-driving versions of "Guess Again" and "Cumulonimbus," which recall McCoy Tyner a little) and five standards. Of the latter, he reinvents "In A Mellow Tone," swings "I'm Old Fashioned," and comes up with a beautiful rendition of "America the Beautiful." Bassist Steve Swallow is a major asset throughout (particularly on the latter piece), while drummer Adam Nussbaum is both stimulating and subtle. Overall, this is high-quality music played by a fully integrated modern jazz piano trio. ~ Scott Yanow
My second CD for Concord was named "Time Lines", I wanted to call it "Things Ain't What They Used To Be", but Concord thought that it sounded negative and came up with "Time Lines". The concept of this recording is based on the fact that things are not what they used to be. I used this as a creative platform. While sticking with my love for the trio, Steve Swallow came to mind for his creativity on the electric bass. He is the perfect choice for a concept like this, Adam Nussbaum on drums completes this trio so perfectly by giving it that aura of intense swing. At the time I was playing quite often with Adam in Europe, but not in a trio. What can I say about Adam? He plays like he is, full of life, joie de vive, bon vivant! I knew we would play great together and I had to have him for this CD. You'll hear what I mean when you listen to him play on "Guess Again". I played with Steve once before when I was touring with Gary Burton. I just love him. I even wanted to do a duo with him. Steve has a very personal sound. It's just the way he plays, the way he swings, the way he plays in the trio. When I'm touring and somebody (who loved my first CD) looks at "Time Lines" and says "Oh it's electric bass, too bad" I feel like they are missing out and I want to tell them to open their mind and they will discover something wonderful. I understand their thinking because I was like this too. Because I never heard anyone like Steve. His lines are so singing and are so incredibly musical. I love this CD for many reasons. Mainly the music was flowing! It was flowing from everyone! We did some takes and I remember thinking Wow!We can't do better than that! We were all happy with it, it was so much fun! And on top of that I was really happy with the mix. The whole thing swings. My arrangement of Duke Ellington's tune "In a Mellow Tone" got quite a bit of airplay and people made a point of telling me how much they enjoyed it. I even remember hearing it on the radio and the DJ said that it sounded like a Brubeck type of arrangement, and it's funny because I never thought of it, but after hearing this remark, I realized that it is kind of true. And I like that. I look back on this recording and think, "Wow! that was a great moment in my life and it all happened in three days"-Christian Jacob "Adam Nussbaum and virtuoso bassist Steve Swallow are Jacob's co-equal partners throughout Time Lines. They play with the intuition that long-standing interaction imparts to a unit, as though breathing synchronously, capacious technique never impeding poetic, improvised expression of a song's message. They're a voice, an orchestra of three, every bit up to Ellington's challenge--so basic and so difficult--of imprinting soul on every note."-Ted Panken "It's just great!"-McCoy Tyner"Christian sounds wonderful!"-Chick Corea"Hearing his tremendous ...
