This is a hybrid Super Audio CD playable on both regular and Super Audio CD players.
It's a testament to Andrew Lloyd Webber's crowd-pleasing compositional skills that the original cast recording of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA went on to become the biggest-selling cast album ever. So when the time came to adapt his music for the film version of the monumentally successful theatrical work, Webber enlisted the aid of longtime collaborators Nigel Wright and Simon Lee. They produced an expanded orchestral version of the score, grander and more sumptuous than the original, and assembled a 100-member ensemble to do it justice.
However, the tragic story of the disfigured Phantom and Christine, the beautiful object of his desire, cannot be told without powerful performances of those roles. Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum quickly dispel any concerns regarding the adequacy of their portrayals. Butler's full-blooded renditions of "The Music of the Night" and the title song are tinged with a dark eroticism, while Rossum's account of "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" skillfully conveys her character's vulnerability and conflicted feelings. The soundtrack also features a newly penned song by Webber, the poignant "Learn to Be Lonely," sung by Minnie Driver, who appears in the role of Carlotta in the film.
All tracks have been digitally remastered.

Haik Naltchayan is a gifted and versatile composer. Haik has scored numerous Independent films including Off Road To Athens , winner of the “Vail Film Fest” and “Whistler Film Fest”. His recent score to the film Solo-24 winner of the independents’ film festival can be heard on iTunes. Haik has also scored for Discovery Channel, History Channel, Motorola, US Air force, US Navy, Department of Defense, Smithsonian Institution, Agence France Presse, and Disney. Haik was born in Virginia into a family of Professional photographers and classically trained musicians. It would be just a matter of time before Haik would uncover his talent for putting music to pictures.Beginning at age 5, Haik showed a unique talent to play instruments by ear starting with the clarinet. By age 15 he had played along with legends Chuck Mangione and Benny Goodman. At age 17, Haik had taught himself piano and within several months was playing at Embassies, Shopping Malls and various venues in DC. His piano compositions have been performed in recitals as far away as Uruguay. Haik has also toured as a front man for several bands including DC based Alternative band “Swami” in which he was lead singer/songwriter. At age 18, Haik’s strong eye and passion for movies led him to study Film and cinematography at James Madison University. It wasn’t until age 20, when Haik was mentored by New Age Piano Icon George Winston, that Haik was drawn to the powerful imagery that music can create and began to focus his energies on film scoring. Haik went on to be awarded an internship in sound with the Academy of TV Arts and Sciences in Burbank, CA. Becoming well versed in the mechanics of sound for picture as well as sound design."I have worked both as a composer and as a cinematographer, so I can understand the language of imagery and emotions." With Haik's trained eye as well as his well-honed ear, Haik is able to easily bridge images into music. Haik says that "my job is like that of a translator, I work closely with the director to tap into what the film is trying to convey and translate that into something that goes right into your core... music."Haik currently plays the Piano, Guitar, Duduk, Clarinet, & Drums.
