Eric Mire CD

Milwaukee recording artist, Eric Mire mixes hip-hop, folk, and soul in his latest self-titled album, eric mire (released Summer 2007). A classically trained pianist and composer, self taught acoustic guitarist, electric bass player and hip hop producer, Eric draws upon his broad musical talents to create a sound that will have your head nodding and booty shaking.With songs titled “Don’t be Fooled,” “Gased Up,” and “Get Free,” Eric Mire explores some of today’s most challenging political topics, touching on the Iraq war, the cost of gas prices in America, and mass media’s failure to serve it’s people.On track six, “Get Free,” Eric Mire asks himself, “How can it be we call this democracy, and people eat it up without choking from hypocrisy…” This type of raw lyrical fire is spit throughout most of eric mire without hesitation.However, not all of Eric Mire’s songs are so serious. He jokingly sings “I got your lady now, and you’re living at your momma’s house,” in a song that narrates a woman having left a no good relationship. On “Footsteps,” Eric winds down the album with soulful Stevie Wonder like keys played by Maurice Cotton, of Cotton Gin Music Productions, in a song that reminisces, “about way back when.”Eric is the Student Services Manager and Recording Instructor/Engineer at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. He has played in a variety of bands and composed music for piano, chamber ensembles, orchestra and electronics. He recently collaborated with Danceworks, a prestigious dance company, and had a composition entitled Wardances choreographed as part of their Art-to-Art performance series. He was the producer of the a Milwaukee based hip hop trio the Nowhere Mine, and has previously released two cd’s, the Nowhere Mine’s Now Hear Mine, and Sir Erk @ 37, a prior solo project.Selected reviews on Garageband.com label eric mire as a, “Unique” artist with a subject matter that “a lot of people will relate to,” and “a message that needs to be heard.”
