Take some time for yourself…With this gentle reminder, Rich Marantz invites us on an inner journey of self healing in his recently released CD Connecting to Tao. In a series of three guided mediations Rich combines the basic principles of Tai-Chi and Qigong practices with soothing and evocative music to help us align ourselves with the energies of heaven and earth. In so doing we learn to live more in harmony with the universe and develop our innate capacities for self-healing and well being. The three meditations use a rich blend of color, sound, basic Taoist concepts and energetic patterns. In Bagua, the first meditation, we connect with the eight energies of heaven and earth and focus on each one to promote inner healing. Next, in Meditation for Releasing and Opening, we are led through different areas of the body to release tension and negative energy and open space within. Finally we move through Standing Meditation for Developing Root for releasing, opening, and grounding. Throughout this process we are reminded to be aware of our dantian: the physiological and energetic center of the body, and to observe what we are feeling in our heart-mind so that we may bring our attention and awareness to our whole being. In times of instability, we become tense, worried and often find ourselves pulled from our centers. Connecting to Tao offers a simple way home to our true natures, a method based on ancient practices that can be practiced at home by anyone who is willing to take some time for themselves. Rich Marantz has been on a journey of healing since 1989 following serious, debilitating injury. His intention for "Connecting to Tao" is to help those who are in need find health and happiness. He currently lives in Vermont with his wife Lorrie, daughter Jade and is a teacher of T'ai-chi chuan, Qigong and meditation. He has also been trained as a Traditonal Taoist External Qi Healer. $9.75 "Not recommended for types who never 'accidentally' got drunk, this horsewreck of an album combines Pat Dawson's clever, bleary eyed lyrics with some rough-and-tumble melodies, a hook or two, some country, some blues, and a few genuine occasions to shout 'yee-haw!' Makes me wonder how Tom Waits might sound if he, like Dawson, had the good fortune to grow up a fourth-generation Montanan." -- Tim Cahill Contributing editor for Rolling Stone ...

Connecting To Tao songs
$19.39 POINT OF FAITHThe "voice" of the Emmy-nominated "Mists of Avalon" TNT/WB score, Aeone (pronounced Ay-Own) delivers a powerful body of work in this 13-song CD. With the unique vocal sound that has become her trademark, along with lush, cinematic arrangements and production, this beautifully-crafted album takes one on a journey from mystical etherea to the dark and ancient longings of the soul. The album begins with the thundering "One Tribe", a call to prayer for all nations, which blends an East-West feel with Celtic sensibility in contemporary groove. It then flows effortlessly into the reflective and poignant title track, "POINT OF FAITH". As song follows song, the listener is carried away on an emotional tide of music, moving from the lavish, layered vocals of "Umbra Nihili" to the absolute purity of Aeone's voice in "The Last Breath". Aeone creates her rich thematic tracks by blending ethnic instruments and pads with strings and heavy grooves, alongside live players such as Irish and Blue Grass fiddles - allowing her voice to rise above it all. Jeff Silverman mixed this body of work ad also co-wrote/co-produced with Aeone the mesmerizing "She Walks with Me". About the ArtistAeone (ay-own), the artist is known for her ethereal vocals who evolves intrinsic femininity from the ancient Celtic into contemporary vibrancy. In 2001 Aeone brought her unique vocal sound to the score of TNT's 4-hour Emmy-nominated mini-series, "The Mists of Avalon". Her haunting and beautifully crafted vocals ranged from mystical etherea to emotional pagan keening and can be heard throughout this epic tale.. The score and Aeone's voice can be heard on the soundtrack available in stores now on the Varese Sarabande label. The soundtrack also includes the haunting song, "I Will Remember You Still" - produced and performed by Aeone - inspired by both the legends of Avalon and Lee Holdridge's moving score. More recently she has moved into ...

$17.09 "Sing-a-Very-Long Song"Strawberries! Forty-Nine Cents! Buy them!!! All selling comes down to this! Strawberries! Forty-Nine Cents! Buy them!!! That’s what someone quite a bit older and wiser...anyway, older...exclaimed repeatedly in my ear when I was creating songs, commercials, jingles and tailor-made special material for the corporate world. As long as the product in question is strawberries or something else we can universally agree upon, he was right. But when it comes to entertainment, songs, plays, music, etc., that’s another matter. The value of these things are not established and universally agreed upon. Here the value is established through subjectivity and personal taste. If it wasn’t...I wouldn’t have to be thinking about these notes at all. I could just say: Music! Fifteen Dollars! Buy it!!!Every artist has his or her own method and reason for choosing material. As for me, the songs I identify with and write and select to present must above all be rooted in story. Yeah, OK, not the most original thought I’ve ever come up with, The play’s the thing...and all that but ‘ya know, ol’ Will knew what he was talkin’ about. Tell the story, man, tell the story... OK, a little history...back in the days before the last ice age precursor to our first bout with global warming, folks used to sit around the campfire late at night and what do you think they did? Huh? I mean, they hadn’t even come up with the concept of the marshmallow yet and they had to do something before it was lights out to pass the time, so...they told stories. OK, so maybe they weren’t the greatest stories, but this was before the Internet and not everyone had heard them yet... like the one about the saber tooth tiger and the caveman’s daughter, but still it was a start and then some guy invented and started strumming on a ukulele and someone else said...Hey! Ya’ know that story about the saber tooth tiger and the caveman’s daughter? Let’s try strumming and humming it! What do ya’ think? And they promptly killed and ate him, but the point is, it does ...
