My name is Lynn Matthew Stokes. I was born in the city of blues St. Louis, Mo. Spending my twenties in Austin Texas in the 1970’s allowed me to experience and witness a wide variety of exceptional musicians and musical trends; from the Cosmic Cowboy country and western scare of Waylon, Willie and the boys, to the electric blues revival of the Vaughan brothers. Concentrating mainly as a guitar player led me to playing with a variety of bands and musical styles throughout my career and working with talented songwriters who’s songwriting crafts did not go unnoticed. One of the highlights of those days was opening for Bob Dylan in 1991 in front of 5000 people and getting great revues in the music press. In 2001 while researching my family’s Scottish and English heritage I came across a body of songs which captivated me to the point where I decided I had to record and perform them. The CD is titled Off To Sea Once More. The songs are ballads and Sea “Shanties” some of which date back several hundred years. The melodies are haunting, their rhythms suggesting the bobbing of the tall sail ships, and their lyrics tell the colorful stories of the joys and hardships of the men whose lives were dependent on the world’s oceans. Using existing lyrics that pre-dated recorded music allowed me the freedom to reinterpret the songs and write the music and melodies to fit the words. This project left a lasting impression and inspired me to begin song writing in earnest.Throughout my life’s journey I have studied literature and esoteric philosophy as well as spirituality. My songs are stories whose foundations are found somewhere between the dream state of the human psyche and the emotional palette of the fears and joys of life in America. I have made a conscious effort to let the theme and imagery of the song determine the musical style in hopes of achieving a more cohesive and holistic composition. As a result my songs encompass several musical styles.I am currently recording my original songs with my group the Sol Surfers. Lynn Stokes Sol Surfers Songs | 1. | Crocodile Tears |

| | Boy Meets Girl Wonderground CD (2003)
Sol Surfers music CDs
$10.65 In the late '80s, George Merrill and Shannon Rubicam were money. They wrote "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)" and "How Will I Know?" for Whitney Houston, and created the enduring soft rock fave "Waiting for a Star to Fall" under their own Boy Meets Girl nameplate. However, the hits had dried up by 1991's New Dream, and the duo disappeared for the duration of the decade. In 2003 they returned to the game. Self-issued under the extended moniker "BoyMeetsGirl Music," The Wonderground is a set of literate adult contemporary that grapples directly with their fall from grace while putting a hopeful face on the present. Music and production styles have shifted drastically since the early '90s. It would be so easy for Merrill and Rubicam to busy up their songs with the tools of today's trade -- pitch correction, Pro Tools, and processed instrumentation. But while there are a few well-placed drum loops (particularly on the Savage Garden-ish "This Chronic Pain") ...

$11.49 Heroes & Villains have always had one bottom line: to create the perfect popular rock n’ roll song. Composed of guitar slinger/songwriter C. Pierre Megarbane, baritone vocalist Raphael Parent, bassman Jeremy Proville and drum master Dominique Salameh, the Montreal- based quartet of Heroes &Villains have been stirring hearts and minds for three solid years and two stellar debut albums. The 2005 EP, All the Giants are Buried at Sea introduced us to the melodic delights of C. Pierre Megarbane’s glassy guitar driven Fender-benders, exposing timeless classics “ESA-2000”, potential singles like “Loveline” and tributes like the majestic “Ruby Keeler”. Recorded at the landmark Hotel2Tango in Montreal’s Mile-End district, site of the recording of the first Arcade Fire and Wolf Parade albums, the EP’s construction with mad scientist Howard Bilerman was an epic experience for the good natured boys. Heroes & Villains are a band that never shied away from the artists’ life of grueling work in exchange for small but accumulating rewards. Starting from the smallest of shows for friends they gradually emerged onto the highly competitive circuit that is the Montreal independent music scene, and it certainly can be said that they presently float near the top of the heap. After numerous winter shows spanning clubs and festivals, songs from the EP began to take a path of their own. Many ventured into the Top 50 Canada College Radio Charts from August to November in 2005 . The catchy “Firstname.lastname” somehow found its way down under to New Zealand radio. Crowd motivator “Drink” was recently caught being played in a Mont-Royal S.A.Q cellar. Meanwhile, the Heroes would be invited to record two live radio sessions at Concordia University’s radio, ranked number 1 in the country. BBC host Steve Lamacq would feature H&V on the “Montreal Exposed” documentary while late-afternoon TV features on the Vox Channel featured the band’s work. McGill University and local publications covered ...
