Klavierraum CD music
$19.10 "Rocky Mountain Way," the tune that opens Joe Walsh's sophomore release (and remains one of his best-known songs), is a textbook example of Walsh's strengths. The song is driven by a slinky hard rock groove that boasts crunchy, distorted guitars, barrelhouse piano, wiry solos, and a catchy, ...

Klavierraum songs
$19.98 It's a commonly held opinion among fans and band alike that Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers' lone live album, 1986's Pack Up the Plantation, didn't quite capture the group at its peak, so there has been a long-standing need for another live set, which 2009's Live Anthology finally provides. Like its closest cousin, Bruce Springsteen's Live 1975-1985, Live Anthology almost overcompensates for the long wait by offering almost too much music, cherrypicking highlights from 1978 to 2007. In its simplest incarnation, Live Anthology is a super-affordable, four-disc box set running 48 tracks, which is eight cuts longer than Springsteen's box, plenty long enough for most fans, ...

| | Beyonce I Am...Sasha Fierce CD (2008) Bonus Track; Deluxe Edition
Klavierraum CD music
$9.99 I AM. SASHA FIERCE represents another change of pace for Beyoncé. Unlike the relatively streamlined, retro-soul inflected B'DAY, I AM... is a sprawling two-disc set designed to reflect two conflicting sides of Beyoncé's musical personality. The first disc sports reflective, sometimes moody ballads, while the second, attributed to Beyoncé's brash alter ego, Sasha Fierce, is loaded with propulsive dance-floor fillers. Except for this stylistic divide, I AM. pays only nominal attention to its supposed concept, focusing instead on a set of excellent, radio-ready songs--neatly avoiding the possibility of I AM. becoming some sort of Chris Gaines-style conceptual disaster. Though the second disc, which ...

| | Goodbye Girl Friday Mr. And Mrs. CD (2002)
Klavierraum songs
$12.69 Goodbye Girl Friday is the pop-fusion incarnation of a group of Berkelee School of Music graduates who have played together since 1994. The failure of their hyper-academic ethno fusion as pop is unsurprising then, as it is only an experiment of otherwise successful session/jazz/country musicians with little audible understanding of the progression of pop music since reign of Elton John and Stevie Wonder. Theirs is the sort of lame-lipped funk lyricism and contrived musical turns characteristic of Dave Matthews Band but without the occasional pop-tinged winner. Super smooth keyboards push the melody along over crisp walking basslines and leader Dave Sherman's perfect pitched, uninspired nonsensical musings. Even over "Peace Out," a track with a mild Caribbean flare and punctuations of organ, Sherman continues his double-tracked, pedestrian leadership to ruin a potentially funky little jam. His lyrics on songs like "Big Red Bong" rehash the endless illusions to Mary already heaped up in the rock culture that apparently this band missed while woodshedding. It's hard to tell if GGF thought they were creating progressive pop, genuflections at Journey Through the Secret Life of Plants, or simply pushing the pop envelope. They should think again or maybe, think less. ~ Daphne Carr
Classic rock, Americana and jazz: all throwback phrases to innovative and defining genres of music and the generations that embraced them. Goodbye Girl Friday (GGF) unites that tradition with breezy pop-rock musings, carving out their own distinct music niche. Electric piano driven melodies coupled with intense, intelligent lyrics depict ...
