9 Lives album
$14.45 After the dark and chilling themes of 2006's BLACK CADILLAC, which saw Rosanne Cash dealing with the deaths of her mother, Vivian Liberto, her father, Johnny Cash, and her stepmother, June Carter Cash -- all of whom passed within a two-year span -- one might assume that her next project would move into an even deeper level of bleakness, but with THE LIST, it's immediately clear that she has instead found a more measured place to stand. It's a lovely and redemptive outing that looks back to go forward. When Cash turned 18, her father, alarmed that his daughter only knew the songs that were getting played on the radio, gave her a list of what he considered 100 essential American songs; Cash kept that list, and now she's drawn on it for this wonderfully nuanced outing that brims with ...
| | Them Crooked Vultures CD (2009)
9 Lives CD music
$13.05 Often, supergroups wind up dominated by one particular personality - think Eric Clapton in Derek & the Dominos, Jack White in the Raconteurs -- which makes the egalitarianism of Them Crooked Vultures all the more remarkable. Of course, when it comes down to it, it's a group of three natural-born collaborators: John Paul Jones, the old studio pro who gravitated toward provocative partners after Led Zeppelin's ...
| | Avett Brothers I And Love And You CD (2009)
9 Lives music CDs
$11.25 North Carolina sibling duo the Avett Brothers return in 2009, fresh off a few years of building a cult following for its melodic and rootsy alt-bluegrass sound, with the subdued I AND LOVE AND YOU. The opening single and title track basks in piano-pop splendor in an odd mix of Beach Boys, Byrds, and the Band.
The Avett Brothers continue charting the same musical course as EMOTIONALISM and MIGNONETTE on major-label debut I AND LOVE AND YOU, despite the presence of hands-on producer Rick Ruben. The country-folk ...

| | Eric Donaldson Cherry Oh Baby CD (2003) (Import) Import; United Kingdom
9 Lives music CDs
$18.39 Jamaican singer and songwriter Eric Donaldson has been poorly served in the CD era, although his most famous song, the effortlessly simple and infectious "Cherry Oh Baby," has been anthologized and versioned repeatedly. Donaldson has more to offer than just that one tune, however, and this 20-track collection has some fine songs, although the 12" mix of "Cherry Oh Baby" which ...

| | Steve Romig Touch CD (2005) (Import)
9 Lives album
$22.89 Melbourne musician, Steve Romig, has recently picked up two major awards - The Blues Award in the International Song Competition and another Blues award in the Australia national Musicoz Competition! His upcoming release is - you guessed it! A Blues album!!This album currently on CD Baby, "Touch", has many beautiful ballads, some great rock and blues numbers, featuring Steve's slide guitar and country stylings and all up - it has 14 songs, beautifully performed and written.Steve has been singing and writing songs since he was 15. He left school very young to earn money working in a metal foundry several months and many molten metal burns later, he bought his first decent guitar. For several years in the 90's he was the lead singer of a top notch function band and had stints in Alice Springs, Darwin and Taiwan. In 2002 Steve spent 6 months in Japan in a jazz band. During these years Steve had back-up vocal gigs for Oz stars including Kylie Minogue, Renee Geyer and Darryl Braithwaite. Now the cream has definitely risen to the top and his originals have been recorded at Melbourne's prestigious Metropolis Studios by even more prestigious engineer Doug Brady (triple Aria Award winner). March 2004 saw the release of his CD "Touch". Australian singing sensation, John Farnham, ...
| | Other Songs And Dances, Vol. 1 CD (2006)
9 Lives CD music
$11.15 The compilation as art-form. We'd sit for hours carefully composing the perfect mix tapes for melancholy days, summer night driving and new love! There's something about telling stories -- your story -- with songs. Some melodies seem like freedom and sometimes a passing lyric can tell us volumes about who we are, were - or would like to be.Movie soundtracks are only a short step away from these ideas. The music can tell you the stories behind the story - the way the air feels, the rage, the blank stare and the as-yet-invisible shred of hope that may be around the corner. What were our mix tapes but attempts to find the soundtrack to the movie of our lives? This is a movie soundtrack for that film we are all still writing. We imagined a thousand times how a small smile could appear when that first song confessed our love. We sped up the car to make the dotted lines match the rhythm of a song. We sat and looked out the rainy window at the people passing by and tried to soak in the total immersion of the moment. We loved it when the repeat function came to CD players. And we still love it when an album feels like it takes you somewhere and tells you a story. When the first song opens a door and the last one gives some sense of closure to a story told in-between. Almost every songwriter has a couple ...

He considers Knoxville, TN, his adopted home and has an established fan base in the region. Jay began playing guitar and writing songs during his high school years and has been actively involved in songwriting and performing ever since. After leaving Winchester to attend Maryville College in 1992, Jay spent the summers of 1993 and 1994 performing at Dollywood and various bluegrass festivals with Keith Garrett (currently with Blue Moon Rising) in a traditional bluegrass brother-style duet. In 1995, Jay transferred to the University of Tennessee and met Robinella ( robinella ). They started singing together at churches and gradually put together a traditional bluegrass band, The Stringbeans, with the help of Cruz Contreras (CC Stringband).
