Comprised of 18 tracks culled from the singer/composer's first three decades, The Very Best of Enya was pieced together by the artist herself, along with longtime collaborators Nicky and Roma Ryan. Luckily, the trio seems enamored by most of the same songs that the general public is, resulting in one of those rare "greatest-hits" collections that goes deep without depriving the listener of the essentials. With tunes like "Orinoco Flow," "Caribbean Blue," and "Book of Days" in the pot and out of the way, it's easier to appreciate hidden gems like "Cursum Perficio," "Boadicea," "Trains and Winter Rains," and "Anywhere Is." About Hector Del Curto HectorDelCurto music@HectorDelCurto Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, bandoneonist Hector Del Curto has traveled the world as soloist and chamber musician, sharing the stage with the world-renowned tango composers Astor Piazzolla and Osvaldo Pugliese, pianist Pablo Ziegler, clarinetist Paquito D´Rivera, ballet dancer Julio Bocca, National Symphony Orchestra (Washington D.C.), Buenos Aires Symphony Orchestra and Teatro Colon Ballet among many others. After a Carnegie Hall concert in April 1999 with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and outstanding artists such as Gary Burton, Joe Lovano, Pablo Ziegler, famous tango singers Jose Angel Trelles and Maria Graña, the New York Times highlighted Mr. Del Curto´s artistry, making special mention of his "wistful, piercing solos on the bandoneon."This was no new discovery. In Argentina, Mr. Del Curto had won the title of "Best Bandoneonist under 25" when he was only 17 years of age. This award led the tango legend, Osvaldo Pugliese to invite him to play in his orchestra, which made him the youngest bandoneonist in the history of Pugliese's Orchestra. In 1999, Hector Del Curto received the Golden Note Award from the Italian-American Network in recognition of his artistic achievements. The Voluntary String Band has been a staple of the Flagstaff music scene for years and has included a broad lineup of some of the best acoustic pickers and most vibrant personalities around.
