$39.99 "It’s rare for so many wonderful circumstances to come together at the same time. This is a unique work you have in your hands: the epic poetry of Karla Morton combined with the exquisite music of Howard Baer and the haunting photography of Walter Eagleton are combined into a lush, romantic experience. This is a work you will want to listen to all in one sitting. The story, the words, the music will carry you to a place that is all too rare in this world of over-analyzed and non-accessible poetry. This is magic and sensual fog and eternal yearning in the style of Shelley and Byron. This is the perfect complement to a warm evening by the fireplace, wine in hand, love by your side." -Alan Birkelbach, the 2005 Texas Poet LaureateABOUT THE AUTHOR:Karla K. Morton was born in Ft. Worth, Texas and attended Texas A&M University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. Morton, who now lives in Denton, Texas, has written in many genres as well as in song and poetry...but her main love is poetry. Poetry in all forms. She believes poets have the honour of expressing into words the emotions of life."Poetry," Morton says, "is life's essence...it's simply impossible for me not to write."Morton also is an avid photographer, and has had several showings of her black and white photography in the pre-digital days.karla k. morton is a board member of the Greater Denton Arts Council, and a founding member and board member of the Denton Poet's Assembly, (a part of the Poetry Society of Texas). morton, who has a Journalism degree from Texas A&M University, has been published in Write Around the Corner, the Texas Poetry Calendar, AmarilloBay, Concho River Review, and the upcoming descant 2008, Illya's Honey, Austin International Poetry Anthology and ARDENT. morton is also author of the book/CD titled Wee Cowrin' Timorous Beastie, (a North Texas Book Festival Awards Finalist), which is a unique blend of poetry, story and the original celtic music of the award-winning Canadian composer, ...

$13.69 Irish, Scottish, Welch/ German, Prussian by descent; born and raised in south Austin, Texas. Bachelor\'s in Music from UT. Workshopped with Bobby McFerrin summer U of Oregon. While in school:Magician assistant, dancer, singer, actress 2000-2001 at Esther\'s Follies. 2003-2005 taught Pilates, yoga and kickbox in Jamaica, mostly in Negril but also Ocho Rios and MOBay. Played a showcase with the Marley band backing. Wrote songs. Got melanoma, came home. 2006-Kept writing, picked up some gigs here and there, 6 commercials. 2007- worked as Julia Roberts body double/stand in in \'Fireflies in the Garden\', a waitress in \'Fighting With Anger\' starring Willie Nelson, a short called \"Totally Connected\" that has won 8 awards so far, a smoking nun in season 5 of the BBC\'s \"Wire in the Blood\', the mermaid in the punk rock video for the Riverboat Gamblers, a doppelganger in the rockabilly Chili Cold Blood video, some voice over work including the Opie and Anthony show in NYC. 2008- went to Sundance with \"Baghead\" on which I have a very minor supporting role that opens the film. A waitress again in \"Stop Loss\"... both played at SXSW in March \'08, opened nationwide thereafter. Most recently finished \"The Knife Licker\" my first starring role that was picked up at the Cannes film festival in May. ..but most importantly I have been doing all of this to pay my bills and stay creatively stimulated while writing and recording and now waiting for my record to be released. So if you like what you hear, help me live out my dream- a life of love and making a living writing and playing music - then download a song or two and spread the word. Peace. Love, Cass growing up my family influences were- jefferson airplane, the beatles, the rolling stones, led zepplin, johnny cash, otis redding, stevie wonder, in my classical piano studies up to and during college: tchaikovsky, ravel, brahms, beethoven sonotas, chopin nocturnes, some Wagner, Mozart and Verdi Requiems, danny elfman...high school for me was ,for a time, grunge rock- pearl jam, smashing pumpkins, STP, Nirvana, Guns N Roses, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Black Crowes but then i was turned on to the likes of: D\'Angelo, Sade, Prince...some guitar player friends introduced me to Jeff Buckley and that had a huge influence on me, still does. In my jazz studies in college I found miles davis and most significantly john coltrane and fell in love with all the village vangard recordings, anything from the mid sixties i could get my hands on. jazz vox: ella, billie, nina simone, abbie lincoln, keys: later monk, bill evans, brad meldau, keith jarrett, i always had a love for performing swing and torch songs but when it came time to write I always went for moody, lush, meloncholic modal feels. I studied some classical indian music for a year, learned ragas, new scales, new instruments of which I was pleased to learn had been interwoven by many pop and jazz musicians. This is an area I plan to explore more- the drones, the tonal scales, the soul and passion that music as a part of everyday life and ritual brings, the alternative tunings fascinate me as well....Born and raised in Austin, I certainly have some affinity for good old country music and a teensy bit for some texas country. a big gap here I need to fill in later, influences ...
