Standard Screen; Soundtrack English; Blue Ray HD-DVD DAY OF THE DEAD, part three of George Romero's zombie trilogy, has the putrid man-eating creatures out in full-force and taking over the world, while a group of surviving soldiers and scientists bicker in a military bunker. The third chapter in the saga that director George Romero started in 1968 with NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD moves the story further along the timeline of the zombie apocalypse to a time when survivors are few and far between. At an underground Florida research station, Dr. Logan (Richard Liberty) conducts grotesque experiments on captured zombies to search for a way that the living and the living dead can cohabitate. Begrudgingly sharing the facility with the doctor is military man Rhodes (Joe Pilato) and his underlings. Scientist Sarah (Lori Cardille) and her fellow survivors seek refuge at the compound just in time to see a clash between Logan and Rhodes reach a critical turning point.
DAY OF THE DEAD stands as the most controversial film in the series. While some feel that its confined, talky nature prevents it from achieving the constant white-knuckle thrills of the previous two films, others admire its strides toward figuring out what drives the zombies. Regardless, the third act features the most extreme and well-executed special effects in the series, with several gory sequences that will leave an undeniable impression on those who witness them. The original script written by George Romero concerned an actual trained army of zombies being commanded by an insane Florida tyrant, but budget restrictions made it unfilmable.
The members of the rock band NRBQ appear in the film as zombies.
Day Of The Dead Reviews: "From its damning portrait of US militarism to its uproarious gore FX, the third entry in Romero's zombie cycle is superb."
-- Matthew Leyland, Sight and Sound "...Affords [Romero] the opportunity for intermittent philosophy and satire, without compromising his reputation as the grisliest guy around..."

Day Of The Dead Movie Review What Can I say about this movie that hasn't been said? This movie might not be as good as Dawn Of The Dead, but let me tell you, it's still one of the best zombie movies ever made. I mean let's face it. I respect night of the living dead, but I hate black and white movies, the only black and white movie I ever was able to tolerate was psycho. And Romero while shined with night, it wasn't until Dawn Of The Dead that he showed what he could really do. I loved it so much, and this one is more less the same. It's not so much the zombies that make the movie, it's how people cope to survive and try to get along with eachother, is what it's all about. In Dawn you had 4 people, this one you have more, as you have marines, and doctor's who try to see if there's a way to either reverse the process with a cure, or try to communicate with the flesh eating creatures to keep them from getting eaten. And let me tell you, it all fails in the end. As basically what romero is saying along with Land Of The Dead is, A living being cannot communicate with the dead, it's just not possible. 4 stars, gruesome effects, it just keeps getting better. Watch land of the dead and you'll see what I'm sayin Submitted by puertoricandj (Buffalo, New York, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 3 of 3 found this helpful. it won't get better than this!!! It is definitely the best of the Romero-films and without a single doubt far better than any other zombie films including the newer re-makes and other stuff. Zombies is about people destroying their own habitats, making our world a fearsome place to live in and only "Day" could emphasise this fact. This film pleases a lot of gore-fans but for those who really understand the meaning why "Night" and "Dawn" of the living dead were made in the first place it is an ultimate way of finding out how the world would look like. The only sad thing is that one of the soldiers who tries to take a bug of the veggies they're growing is doing it all wrong and we see he's just acting. But all the rest is an A++. I still didn't see "Land". I am afraid it would spoil all the rest. Hope I am wrong though...

Romero's best. I've seen NOTLD and DOTD but this is by far THE best in the series. I'll have to wait until Land of the Dead comes out to see if DOTD is the best. $16.25 The follow-up to his 2003 horror hit HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES, Rob Zombie's THE DEVIL'S REJECTS continues the story of a bizarre group of very odd people who like to torture, maim, and kill virtually everyone they come in contact with. When Sheriff Wydell (William Forsythe) pays a visit to the body-ridden lair of Mother Firefly (Leslie Easterbrook, taking over the role played by Karen Black in the first film), her children Otis (Bill Moseley) and Baby (Sheri Moon Zombie) are forced to run, eventually holing up in a roadside motel with four hostages (including Clint Eastwood ...

Seeking refuge from the zombies and the ensuing hysteria, they land on top of a Pittsburgh area shopping mall, despite the fact that the undead seem to be flocking there. $30.39 Based on the Elmore Leonard story, 3:10 TO YUMA is a riveting remake of the 1957 classic Western. It's the story of Dan Evans (Christian Bale), a down-and-out rancher who lost his leg in the Civil War. With a wife and two sons, he is struggling to put food on the table, and unable to make payments on his land. When the notorious gunman Ben Wade (Russell Crowe) is apprehended nearby, a few local men are needed to escort him to the town of Contention so he can be put on the 3:10 train to Yuma Prison. Few will volunteer for the job, as they know that Wade's ruthless gang will follow them, but Evans sees an opportunity to make some fast cash, and offers to go in exchange for $200. The small team of men set off, and are later joined by Evans's young son William (Logan Lerman), who has run away from home to join them. What follows is a race against time, ...

Day Of The Dead film
$19.35 Monty Python delivers a scathing, anarchic satire of both religion and Hollywood's depiction of all things biblical with their second--and tightest--full-length film. The setting is the Holy Land in 33 A.D., a time of poverty and chaos, with no shortage of messiahs, followers willing to believe in them, and exasperated Romans trying to impose some order. At the center of it all is Brian Cohen (Graham Chapman), a reluctant would-be messiah who rises to prominence as a result of a series of absurd and truly hilarious circumstances that parallel the life of Christ--providing ample opportunity for the entire ensemble (John Cleese, ...

$31.09 Bollywood and Hollywood entwine for this mix of romance, singing, comedy, dancing, and melodrama, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali (DEVDAS) and produced in tandem with Sony/Columbia. The achingly beautiful Rani Mukherjee narrates and appears as Gulab, a streetcorner princess haunting the red light district in an expressionistic melange of Venice, Vegas, and Amsterdam. The irrepressibly callow musician Raj (Ranbir Kapoor) catches her eye, but Raj thinks he's in love with Sakina (Sonam Kapoor) who prefers to pine away for her absent lover, Imaan (Salman Kahn). All this longing (it's based on Dostoyevsky's WHITE NIGHTS) is stunningly captured through bizarre and elaborate backdrops, winding staircases, torrents of rain, and ...
