It is well known that any professional Poker player has to bluff, once in a while!!! It has never been perfectly demonstarted than in this wonderfull caper feature. Joanne Woodward desrves an 'Oscar' for her portrayal of the "faithfull" and "innocent" wife who hasn't the slightest idea how this poker game is played!!??!! Although I have seen the ending many times I still absolutely enjoy it, and I urge you not to reveal the ending to ayone, let them enjoy it for themselves!!!! Unmissable!!!!

A Funny, cleverly constructed film, which saves the "twist" to the end.
An exceptional cast for a "sting" film with a comic slant.
Quite simply....give it a go. You won't be disappointed.

Excellent Movie!
I am not big on westerns myself, but I really enjoyed this one. It isn't the typical "cowboys and indians" western. The whole cast is very convincing. They did an excellent job!! And with the surprise ending, what more could you ask for?

This is one of the best movies I have ever seen. The performances are top notch. The cast reads like a Who's Who of the best actors in the world and each part is played flawlessly. The chemistry between the actors (Jason Robards, Burgess Meredith,Kevin McCarthy, Paul Ford, Milton Selzer, Henry Fonda and Joanne Woodward) is totally convincing. The whole movie crackles with realistic intensity. I do have a request. If anyone can tell me the Latin phrase the banker uses to descibe the piling of one flummery upon another (something like "pitiance in awesome") when the card players are in the banker's office, I'd appreciate it. It is a term I would like to use myself. If you like westerns and like movies like The Sting, you'll love this classic piece of western entertainment.
