| | Shelley Asbury How Strong Do My Walls Have To Be CD Shelley Asbury Discography of CDs
Shelley Asbury is a songwriter from Michigan pursuing her love of Bluegrass and Gospel music. Although starting her music career later in life, she feels a definite purpose and direction of where it needs to go. In 2002, she began seriously pursuing her songwriting career by making frequent trips to Nashville to attend workshops, network, and establish relationships with industry pros on music row. At the same time, her heart was being captivated by the traditional music of Bill Monroe and the Stanley Brothers. She couldn't get enough of the sound, and found herself trying to write in a style that was not Music Row friendly! Following her heart, she started writing and singing her own original Bluegrass/Gospel tunes. She then started promoting and pitching songs to publishers and artist in the International Bluegrass community. In the summer of 2005, Shelley was fortunate to have an opportunity to meet with legendary bluegrass songwriter Pete Goble. By the next summer, Pete had a big part in helping her put her first recording project together. Now, with the release of her first solo CD project, she is looking forward to what ever the next steps bring. Bluegrass makes Shelley's unique voice feel at home. She continues to work on her fiddle, and familiarize herself with the tradition. She currently resides in the Detroit area with her husband and four children and is one of the Detroit area workshop coordinators for the Nashville Songwriters' Association International (NSAI)www.nsaidetroit.com"Shelley is very talented and writes 'great' songs. It's thrilling to know her and hear her sing. This is her first effort and if you hear her you will agree, she is radio friendly. How Strong Do My Walls Have To Be album
$12.15 "Detach" is the new album from UK-based independent electronic producer Northcape. The music could best be described as chilled melodic electronica, but genres and technology aren't as important here as communicating ideas, images, landscape and emotion. In the spirit of the best downtempo electronica, IDM and ambient, Northcape creates fresh, distinctive, melodic and personal-feeling music which transcends its electronic components. REVIEWS"As the proud owner of Northcape's debut Cd "Letter to Nowhere" I was really looking forward to hearing this one and I wasn’t disappointed. The first album was excellent, but this one is even better, showing greater maturity in composition and production. This is chilled electronica at it's best, with beautiful inter-twining melodic lines that wrap themselves around the brain and don’t let go. Great melodies are only half the story though as the right choice of sounds is important, and in this, Northcape proves to be a master of his art. Crystalline synths rise and fall against carefully thought out percussion and magical bass lines that hook you straight in and pull you into an enchanting musical journey.Northcape avoids all the pitfalls of this genre of electronica and never strays into insipid "New age" or the blandness which a lot of chilled electronica is prone to do. This music serves the brain as well as the heart and new things reveal ...
| | Michael Thomason Buffalo Dreams CD (2003)
How Strong Do My Walls Have To Be CD music
$15.19 Kathy Coleman from TakeCountryBack writes:In 1986 Michael Thomason got the chance to work on a musical western, Buffalo Dreams, writing with sk dunn and Jim Neu. As well as composing the music for this play, he also took a role in it. It was performed in Napa Valley and New York City. Michael's taken the Theme From Buffalo Dreams, co-written with sk dunn, and it's the title track of his newest disc, "Buffalo Dreams." In this disc, Michael has once again put on display his formidable writing skills, as well as his excellent vocals. Michael wrote (or co-wrote) eight of the ten songs, all of which show off his country-folk style extremely well. He also throws in a cover of his obvious hero, Bob Dylan, with a tremendous version of "You're a Big Girl Now," as well as Neil Young's "Bound For Glory." The Michael Thomason Band, a gritty combination of American and European players, has honed their skills to a fine art, giving us music that is from-the-heart pure. It's a strange thing that a disc of music so purely American was recorded in Germany. Right from the first swinging bars of "Anywhere By You," with its playful use of French lyrics to give it a trace of a Cajun flare, it's a remarkably listenable album, moreso considering its limited and REALLY independent release (no record label appears ...
