** Reviews **Tomanonymous is the jazz-pop project of one Tom Connelly (not so anonymous now, are ya?), a San Franciscan who writes the songs and tackles bass and vocal duties. Connelly's bass never settles for mere rhythm keeping, though; his versatile acoustic and electric four-string plunking is the album's most prevalent and vital component. Most of the time, I am Be forgoes guitar in favor of less traditional instruments like the coronet, congas, pandeiro and cuatro. This instrumental nonconformity lends the music a fresh, eccentric vibe, as do the beds of urban found-sound ambience that cushion several tunes.
