Legends Vol. 2 album
$7.59 Guitarist Peter White follows up his 2001 release Glow with more solid melodic smooth jazz on Confidential. Once again there is an amiable mix of quiet storm-ready ballads, up-tempo Latin numbers, and groove-oriented soundscapes. Joining White are such instrumental pop luminaries as trumpeter Chris Botti, keyboardist Brian Culbertson, ...
| | Anita Baker My Everything CD (2004)
Legends Vol. 2 CD music
$11.69 Anita Baker first garnered a big audience in 1986 with her second record, RAPTURE. A critical favorite with a uniquely raspy, jazz-like expressionistic singing style, she scored a major pop and R&B hit with "Sweet Love." From that initial success, Baker carved her own niche somewhere between deep soul and smooth jazz. After a few more albums she decided to concentrate her passion on her family.
Following nearly a decade's hiatus, Baker returns to the recording studio with 2004's MY EVERYTHING, and, happily, very little has changed. She hasn't tinkered one bit with the sound that made her a beloved singer, emerging with a record both comforting and enrapturing. "You're ...

| | Sam Falzone Family Sweet CD (1988)
Legends Vol. 2 songs
$9.35 Sam Falzone will always be best-known as the tenor saxophone soloist with Don Ellis' orchestra in the late '60s/early '70s. After leaving Ellis, in 1978 he returned to his native Buffalo where he worked locally with his Buffalo Jazz Workshop. In 1988 he finally made his recording debut as a leader, performing with his nonet; the only sideman to gain some later recognition is trumpeter Jeff Jarvis. Falzone performs seven originals, which are dedicated to family members. The music is post-bop jazz, not shy to show some ties to fusion, and usually swings. Along with Falzone and Jarvis, the key soloists include keyboardist Michael Royal, trombonist Phil Sims, and altoist Carol McLaughlin. The music on this rare LP has not yet been reissued on CD. ~ Scott Yanow
This collection of instrumental stand-outs combines elements of standard jazz, up tempo latin rhythyms and just plain catchy melodys. The band is comprised of some of the best jazz musicians that Western New York has ever produced. Originally released on vinyl in 1988, the recordings were digitally re-mastered and the album was re-released on CD in 2001.---- This album is dedicated to my father and mother, Joseph and Frances Falzone. Their love and understanding have kept me going all these years. Special Thanks to my sisters Mary Yantomasi, Vivian Maier and Sue Fenger, who gave me all the love and support I need to accomplish this project. I thank Debra Stratton for helping me all along the way and keeping me together. I especially thank my children, Michael, Lori, D.J. and Niki, who have been an inspiration to me from their beginnings. Also, I want to thank my friend and co-worker, Tom Mayers for his positive attitude and energetic good nature throughout this project. My sincere gratitude is extended to Stan Lipsey, publisher of the Buffalo News and to the Albright Knox Art Gallery. Jim Patrick's Comments Niagara Falls notwithstanding, there are some of us in Buffalo who insist that Jazz is Western New York's greatest natural resource. Around here jazz is not just music or mere entertainment. In the good times and the lean, it has also served as a voice for the aspirations, pleas, hopes for, and pride in this community - an expressive embodiment of our vitality. For decades, the Buffalo landscape has been dotted with scores of excellent jazz musicians. A few are famous or nearly so - Pete Johnson, Mel Lewis, and Grover Washington, Jr. Many, many others have worked with the most important figures and ensembles in jazz ...
