| | Norah Jones Fall CD (2009)
Live At The Wardrobe
$14.44 With The Fall, Norah Jones completes the transition away from her smooth cabaret beginnings and toward a mellowly arty, modern singer/songwriter. Jones began this shift on 2007's Not Too Late, an album that gently rejected her tendencies for lulling, tasteful crooning, but The Fall is a stronger, more cohesive work, maintaining an elegantly dreamy state that's faithful to the crooner of Come Away with Me while feeling decidedly less classicist. Some of this could be attributed to Jones' choice of producer, Jacquire King, best-known for his work with Modest Mouse and Kings of Leon, but King hardly pushes Norah in a rock direction; The Fall does bear some mild echoes of Fiona Apple or Aimee Mann in ballad ...
| | Lou Reed New Sensations CD (1984) Reissue; Remastered
Live At The Wardrobe
$11.18 Lou Reed never struck anyone as one of the happiest guys in rock & roll, so some fans were taken aback when his 1984 album New Sensations kicked off with "I Love You, Suzanne," a catchy up-tempo rocker that sounded a lot like a pop tune. After reaffirming his status as one of rock's greatest poets with The Blue Mask and Legendary Hearts, what was Reed doing ...

| | Nirvana Live At Reading CD (2009)
Live At The Wardrobe
$11.16 Certain concerts create a legend as soon as the final note ceases to ring. Nirvana's headlining appearance at the 1992 Reading Festival is one of these shows, a concert that arrived at precisely the right moment and stands as testament to a band at the peak of its powers...and right before things started to turn sour within the Nirvana camp. Despite the happy news of the birth of Frances Bean Cobain a mere 12 days before this August 30 festival, rumors swirled around Nirvana right up until the band hit the stage. Kurt Cobain took full advantage of these scurrilous stories, making his entrance in a hospital gown and wheelchair pushed by journalist Everett True. Cobain feebly reached for the microphone to croak out the opening lines of "The Rose," only to collapse onto the stage, milking the drama for a moment before leading Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl through a ...

Live At The Wardrobe
$6.29 Tracy Byrd's seventh album, IT'S ABOUT TIME, marks the first time he's done things his way. It's the first album he's co-produced, and the first, he says, to include songs he really wanted to record, rather than songs he was told to. If that's true, IT'S ABOUT TIME reveals Byrd to be an artist who's moved far beyond ditties like "Watermelon Crawl."
Nearly every song he's chosen carries a strong emotional message. The lovely "Put Your Hand in Mine" is about a man who realizes there's still a chance to save his failing marriage, while in "It's About Time," the narrator realizes his family is more important than his career. The touching "A Little Love" tells the story of a lonely waitress hoping to be rescued by love. Byrd's voice has matured ...

| | Royce Campbell Trio By Starlight CD (2008) (Import) Italy
Live At The Wardrobe
$21.39 A mainstream jazz classic CD featuring bebop piano legend Hod O\'Brien and rising star bassist Tom Baldwin recreating the sound of the Nat Cole Trio which featured piano, guitar and bass. The concept of the project was to take chord progressions of familiar standards and create new melodies but usually when jazz musicians do this they compose new melodies, but on this project Royce Campbell improvised the melodies which creates a different mood from the norm. I full- time musician since age 17, Royce Campbell has now been a musician over 35 years. His talent became apparent at an early age and by age 21 he was touring with R&B legend Marvin Gaye. In 1975 then began touring with legendary film composer Henry Mancini & would remain with Mancini for 19 years. Campbell has produced over 20 CD’s as leader or co-leader.
