| | Deana Carter Chain CD Deana Carter Discography of CDs
(2 Customer Reviews)
Though she has preferred to maintain her own career as a singer-songwriter without riding her father's coattails, Deana Carter recognizes, like many others, that her father, Fred Carter Jr., has been one of the finest studio musicians in Nashville from the 1950s on, and one of the key architects of country-rock, thanks to his work with Bob Dylan, the Band, and others. THE CHAIN is Deana Carter's tribute to her father, a heartfelt covers album consisting solely of famous songs that her father played on, such as Simon and Garfunkel's "The Boxer" and Neil Young's "Old Man." Chain Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Great songs! This CD is just a great compilation of excellent songs! "The Boxer" is a great cover and the duet with Willie Nelson on "On the Road Again" is great fun. Neil Young's "Old Man" doesn't feature the blistering guitar solo, but Deana's voice makes you forget that. Jessi Colter helps her on "I'm Not Lisa" and it's one of the strongest tracks on the album. Whole thing is a pleasure to listen to! Submitted by usafirstlady (Dallas, Texas) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Deana Carter New CD The Chain! I just bought Deana Carter’s new album ‘The Chain,’ and I love it! Not only is it an extraordinary idea, but it is brilliantly done! Deana chose to do cover songs that greatly impacted her life, as duets, with a plethora of legendary artists. What you’ll hear on this CD are great songs that you already know and love in a refreshing new way because of Deana’s beautiful and unique voice. Plus she is accompanied by amazing artists, some of which are; Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, and Shooter Jennings! The song she duets with Kris Kristofferson, “Help Me Make it Through the Night,” is probably the best version I’ve ever heard! Nobody who loves country will regret buying this CD! | | Lee Ann Womack Call Me Crazy CD (2008) Digipak
Chain album
$9.49 After flirting with the pop mainstream with hit singles like "I Hope You Dance," Lee Ann Womack came decidedly back to country with 2005's THERE'S MORE WHERE THAT CAME FROM, an unapologetic stylistic throwback to the days when Patsy Cline and Kitty Wells ruled the country charts. While CALL ME CRAZY is nearly as traditionalist in its sound, and every bit as strong as a set of songs, it sounds perhaps a little more contemporary--more Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton than Patsy and Kitty--and includes highlights like first single "Last Call" and a pair of duets with Keith Urban and George Strait. CALL ME CRAZY was released as a vinyl LP as well as a digital download and a standard CD: the once retro but now once again hot format is a perfect fit for the album's back-to-basics charms.

| | Trick Pony R.I.D.E. CD (2005)
Chain CD music
$7.29 R.I.D.E., the title of Trick Pony's third album, stands for "Rebellious Individuals Delivering Entertainment." Of course, in 2000's Nashville, rebelling could often mean playing straight-up old-school country while not taking oneself too seriously, two pursuits at which Trick Pony excels. A slice of good-time barroom country rock, R.I.D.E. manages to sound staunchly traditional while never sticking too close to a formula. Primary lead vocalist Heidi Newfield comes off like a bawdy mix of Tanya Tucker, Loretta ...

| | Jon Geffner Every Country Road Every City Street CD (2007)
Chain album
$11.49 Long Island–based singer/songwriter Jon Geffner has been writing and performing songs since the late 1970s. He was raised on the sixties rock and roll of the Beatles, Rolling Stones, and Creedence Clearwater Revival. It was his discovery of Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen in the mid-1970s, however, that fueled his desire to create music. The influence of Dylan and Springsteen was profound. Through them, Jon realized music could be more than entertainment–-that it could provide an avenue for expression and act as an agent of change.By tracing the influences of his two main mentors, Jon found his way to the early rock and roll of Elvis Presley and Buddy Holly as well as the classic country music of Johnny Cash and Hank ...
