THIS IS RYAN SHAW is the 2007 debut of vocalist Ryan Shaw, a young troubadour with his gaze set firmly on the classic soul and R&B of yesteryear. In sharp distinction to a lot of his neo-soul contemporaries, Shaw genuinely channels the spirit of Sam Cooke, Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, and other Stax and Motown legends, without the gloss of urban contemporary beats and production compromising the vibe. Shaw has the style and the pipes to pull off the feat, giving the contemporary soul scene an old-school shot in the arm that's surprisingly refreshing.

This Is Music Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) FUN & SOULFUL CD The debut release from Ryan Shaw is packed with great vocals, fun music, and heartfelt ballads. From the opening track, the danceable "Do the 45" to closing song "Over and Done" the listener is taken on a journey back to when soul singers could both sing and add soul. I love Shaw's take on the classic, "Workin' On a Building of Love." Check it out if you like old-school R&B. 36 minutes of listening pleasure! Like the idea but no where near the best I like the idea of bringing back the old school R&B, we need more of that in this generation, but I really can't get into any of the songs. Just seems like he is yelling the whole way through them. And the CD is was to short, soon as you get into a groove song goes off... Submitted by Adrian (Raleigh, NC, USA) Was This Review Helpful? $9.89 The Stockholm trio of Peter Moren, Bjorn Yttling, and John Eriksson scored a European hit with their delightfully amateurish "Young Folks" single, included here complete with whistling and bongos. The rest of their second album, a fully realized fusion of intelligent songwriting and innovative production, is equally enchanting. Moren's "Objects Of My Affection" combines the rhythm, soul, and self-analysis of a RUBBER SOUL-era John Lennon composition with the atmosphere and melodic distortion of My Bloody Valentine, and Eriksson's "Up Against The Wall" evokes Blur's ...

| | John McCormack Peace Of Mind CD (2006)
This Is album
$11.39 When unconventional crash-and-burn sax meets progressive rock, you have a new genre. Peace of Mind, John's first solo album, meshes soulful sax, raw piano and gutsy guitar with a powerful progressive rock rhythm section. Who knew a sax should do all that? For over 28 years, John has played his raucous guitar-style sax throughout the Midwest and New York. John's influences are quite varied for a horn player, including Jimi Hendrix, Rush, Bob Marley, Santana, The Allmans, and of course, Charlie Parker. While based in St. Louis, John played drums and toured with Lost Idaho and played sax with I Don't Know, Green Eggs and Spam and Just Add Water, which were all mainstays on the St. Louis club circuit. Once back in New York City, John was a founding member of Souled Out, one of New York's top R&B/Soul bands and still rockin' well into its second decade, with other local projects including What It Is, Get On Up and Coolfish. You can catch John with Souled Out and Coolfish in the New York metro area by visiting www.souledoutny.com and www.coolfishband.com.You can email John @ jmacksax@hotmail.com. Please let me know what you think of the album by leaving a review with cdbaby.com. Album NotesPeace of Mind features six songs written, performed and recorded by John McCormack from 1984 - 1997, all redone from scratch in 2005. The two songs completely original to this album are Peace of Mind and Out of My Winter. Go Ahead And Rain represents an exuberance of life without care. Recorded as an instrumental on this album, the song's original lyrical version was copyrighted and was toured with Lost Idaho throughout the Midwest in 1987, featuring John on vocals & drums. Without A Doubt was written with all of John's love for his wife Stacy. This is a pure rock jam with guitar lead. Out of My Winter demonstrates what can happen if you forget your troubles and know that it's better to let go of things you can't change. Booth Street (Forever You) is most ideally heard while driving your Beemer through the Alps, or so I'm told. I Know What You Know, written in August of 1984, was originally recorded in 1988 by the members of John's high school band, Radical (how 80's!). The sax is raw with emotion and has been described as "vintage John." Danger Damage Almost Over and It's Good To Be Home For Christmas were written in December 1989 during John's last full semester in college in St. Louis. Despite a sprained ankle, crutches, ...

$14.79 THE EJAYS BIOGRAPHYBIOGRAPHY OFEnorris JOHNSON (A.K.A. Cindo) My name is Enorris Johnson. I am 50 years old and I am a professional Logistician. I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Elizabeth Johnson, for 32 years. We have two daughters, Eukrina and Enesha, and one grandson, Jevin Jones. I was a Disc Jockey in the early seventies through the early eighties. I have always had a fascination with music. I attempted to start a band in the early seventies while I was in the military; however, I wasn't successful because the other potential band members weren't committed. When my daughter asked me to help her with her singing I was more that happy to do so. While she was taking vocal lessons, I procured some software and started to write songs and create music. We started a web page and submitted our songs on Acid Planet under the name of Enesha and Enorris. I have been writing, singing, creating music, and producing songs with my daughter, Enesha, for about four years now. This love I have for music and poetry has kept my daughter and I very close. I was the Lyricist Featured Artist for August 2001. I met Gary Lee (AKA Lefamu) in 2001 on the Internet. Since that time, Gary has become a very good friend of mine and is featured on our CD project. Gary is as close to me as any family member and is a member of our group. He has been very helpful and has inspired me to continue to strive for excellence. In December 2002, we added a Rapper George Nnaife (AKA A'Pollo) to our team and in October 2003 I started my own record label, EJAYS Productions and has subsequently released my first CD project, "The EJAYS". We have also established a website, http://www.soundclick.com/bands/2/theejays.htm and an email, cindo@worldnet.att.net.BIOGRAPHY OFENESHA EXZAVIERA JOHNSONHuntsville, AL 35816 My name is Enesha Exzaviera Johnson.
